Remember the singing show- Antakshari on DD in 90’s, yes. If anyone who is in his/her 30’s will recall her as the icon figure & personality, host with Anu Kapoor on the show. She is Durga Jasrag . Born on 12 September 1964 to the famous classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj in Mumbai. Her mother’s name is Madhura Pandit. Her maternal grandfather is a famous film director V. Shantaram. She has a brother Sharang Dev, who is himself a music director.

Munnawar Masoom is an Indian singer and musician, who was raised in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. He is popular for his song ‘Husne Muhabbat ka ada’. He is known for his intense, powerful, and energetic style and his rendering of pieces by the celebrated Sufi poet Amir Khusrow. He performed on ‘Idea Jalsa’ on Doordarshan, Times festival, and ‘Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh’ organized by Pandit Jasraj. He has also performed with Kailash Kher. He was given the title ‘Fakr-e-Madhya Pradesh’ by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Some of his songs are Meherbaan, Aisa Koi Mehboob, Man Kunto Maula, Chhap Tilak Sab Chhini, Chaap Tilak, Yeh Saari Duniya Ki Chahatein, Jisko bhi dekho wo he bhim, Kaha ab milega, Allah Hoo, and Agar aap humse.

Shivkumar Sharma is a man who changed the face of world music with his fingers on the stringed musical instrument, Santoor. He was born to the singer Uma Dutt Sharma in Jammu whose dream was to see his son make a name for himself in the musical industry. So, he started teaching him vocals and Tabla at the age of five and Shivkumar started playing Santoor at the age of thirteen. His road to stardom was filled with obstacles. He gave his first public performance at a national level concert in Bombay in 1955 and that happened to a lot of radio broadcasts and performances.

Jagjit Singh is ‘Ghazal King’ in Indian music. His fantastic rendition, bass voice, and perfect diction made him popular in every home. This singer ushered a new era of Ghazal singing in the country. His songs such as ‘Woh Kaagaz Ki Kashti’(film Aaj) and ‘Tumko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayal Aaya’ (film Saath Saath), ‘Hoshwaalon Ko Khabar Kya’ (film Sarfarosh) benefitted numerous films too and brought melody back to films. His one song’ Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe in Ho’ is an immortal song. As a singer, he was influenced by Hindi film songs since his childhood.

Shankar Mahadevan, a well-renowned, talented and famous music composer, and singer. An accomplished musician in Tamil cinema, he is a part of the Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio team that provides music to Bollywood and other International films. He has won various Indian and multiple National Film Award. His most famous albums include, “Breathless“- Album that first gave him fame, including the song, "Breathless," in which he sings throughout the whole song without pausing to breathe and “Nine” - Nine is Shankar's most recent album. Each song is a representation of a "mood," including joy, sadness, love, etc. He was also invited by UNESCO and the US State Department to perform at the UN General Assembly Hall for the finale of the International Jazz Festival on 30 April 2012 which is a thing of pride. Shankar has always considered himself as a restless student wanting to learn more every time. He says he’s thirsty and want to learn every time and experiment with something new. He wants to be a perfectionist. Shanker also feels that Karnatak music is the most powerful form of music and he himself started with Karnataka classic which he says is the best to create a prominent base for music. Music is the thing which excites Shanker the most, and he would always be attached to it. Personal Life: Shanker Mahadevan was born in Chennai to a Tamil family but was later brought to Mumbai and was raised there. Being born into a Tamil family and later raised in Mumbai, he knows both Hindi and Tamil language but is not well versed with Tamil and Malayalam. He finished his schooling from OLPS High School in Chembur and his engineering in computer science from R.A.I.T (D Y Patil, Navi Mumbai). His wife, Sangeeta is Maharashtrian and oldest son Siddharth Mahadevan. Also, a singer, made his debut on the 2013 Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s song, Zinda. Shankar’s youngest son, Shivam Mahadevan, also a singer made his debut in 2013 in the movie Dhoom 3’s song, Bande Hain Hum Uske. Mahadevan is fluent in Marathi, Tamil, Hindi, Urdu and English.

Annu Kapoor or born as AnilKapoor, is an Indian movie actor, TV and radio presenter who were born on February 20, 1956 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. He has an almost similar name with the actor, Anil Kapoor, so in 1982 he decided to change his name to Annu Kapoor. He was trained in the National School of Drama in New Delhi, India in 1976.

In 1979, he first appeared as a stage actor and he was noted for his appearance in Ek Ruka Hua Faisla under the direction of his brother, Ranjeet, in 1982. Shyam Benegal, an Indian director who made Annu’s debut film, Mandi in 1983.

Annu was also part of the serial, DD National (DD1) in 2007 and performed in the black comedy film, 7 Khoon Maaf as Inspector Keemat Lal. The Golden Era – With Annu Kapoor is the melancholy show about the Indian cinema, specifically Bollywood Music. He was the radio presenter in the 92.7 Big FM station with his show called, Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor.

His career traversed for over 30 years. He has done TV serials, game shows and performed in Bollywood cinema. He also hosted the STAR One’s singing contest, Antakshari – The Great Challenge. Annu played an Obsessive-Compulsive physician in the Bollywood comedy-drama, Vicky Donor, in 2012, which became a renowned critically acclaimed film and gave him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 2013, he appeared as Sir Yograj Khanna in the Bollywood action comedy film, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, under the direction of Sangeeth Sivan.

Annu came from a family connected with art and nationalism. He was the son of the poet, Shabnam Kapoor, who was one of the very few people that mastered Urdu, Arabic, and Persian languages. She was also articulate in languages like Punjabi, Gujarati, Marwadi, Marathi, and some other dialects. Annu has four sons and has been married twice.

He also directed various plays and films such as the Abhay (The Fearless) that received the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film and V. Shantaram Award in 1994. He was also the Aao Jhoomein Gaayen on SAB TV, a musical talent competition for kids and the Gaan Gaao Taaka Naao on Kolkata.

Annu have done several films from 1983 to 2014 and Television appearances such as Close Up Antakshari, Quile Ka Rahasya, Idea Jalsa, Junoon Kuch Kar Dikhane Ka and a lot more.
