Aakashwani Sangeet Sammelan was started in the year 1954 by All India radio or Prasar Bharti. It is premiering on DD Bharati for six decades. All India Radio has played a vital role in preserving and propagating the Classical music of India. This Sammelan is held every year where eminent singers and personalities emerge from across the country to perform their classical music. It includes all kinds of Indian Classical music, from Hindustani Music to Uttaradi Sangeet to North Indian Music and Carnatic Music to Dakshinaadi Sangeetha and South Indian Music.
Eminent artists, as well as emerging artists, are featured in this Sammelan. It needs one month time to prepare for this conference. It was broadcast on All the radio stations across the country. The name of this show was changed recently on 6th February 2021 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Centenary Commemorative function.
