Smriti Mandhana’s full name is Smriti Shriniwas Mandhana. She is an amazing Indian Cricketer and plays for Women’s National Team. She was named the best Women’s International Cricketer by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), in June 2018. Mandhana was born to Smita and Shrinivas Mandhana on 18 July 1996 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She was just two when her family moved to Madhavnagar, Sangli, Maharashtra. She completed her schooling from there. She was inspired by both her father and brother, Sharavan to play Cricket. Her brother played Cricket at the district level for Sangli. He also played the State level tournament as well in the Under-16 tournament. It motivated her to take up a career in Cricket. She was nine when she got selected in Maharashtra’s Under-15 team and got picked for Maharashtra Under-19 team at the age of eleven.

Anjali Bhagwat is a well-known Indian Sports Shooter. She was born on 5 December 1969 in Mumbai. Her mother works for All India Radio, and her sister is a singer. Her husband is Mandar Bhagwat, a Mumbai-based businessman. Anjali was inspired in sports by American athlete Carl Lewis. She joined the National Cadet Corps during her school days. She remained connected with the NCC when she joined Kirti College, Mumbai. In her college curriculum, she got into the Maharashtra Rifle Association.

Pilavullakandi Thekkeparampil Usha (P. T. Usha) is an Indian athlete hailing from Payyoli, Kozhikode, Kerala. She was born on 27th June 1964. She is the queen of Indian race course and is popularly and proudly known by the names Udanpari, Payyoli Express, Sprint Queen, Sportsperson of the century and the Golden Girl of the nation. She was suffering from ill health in her early days of childhood. But she was a fighter. Usha had the spark of an athletic talent right from her primary school days. She has been a performer since those days.

Milkha Singh, fondly called The Flying Sikh, was born on 20^th November 1932 in Govindpura, Punjab. He was a popular sprinter who is well-known for his performances in track and field events. Milkha was born in British India and his birthplace is now in Pakistan. He is born with 15 siblings and 8 of them died at an early age. During the partition of India and Pakistan, Milkha’s parents and three siblings were killed. Their death happened in front of him. After reaching Delhi, he stayed with his sister’s family. But, soon, he was arrested and sent to jail for traveling without a ticket. He had been in a refugee camp for a while. In 1951, he joined the Indian Army. He was introduced to the sports, as he is quick in the running. He took part in Melbourne Olympic Games in 1956. He participated in the 200m and 400m competitions. But, he couldn’t succeed due to his inexperience. In 1958, he created a new record at the National Games of India in 200 and 400m, held at Cuttack. Milkha Singh is the first gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games held in 1958. After winning medals at the Asian Games in 1958, he was promoted to Junior Commissioned Officer from Sepoy. In the same year, he was honored with Padma Shri.

Sunil Chhetri is an Indian professional footballer, who was born on August 3rd, 1984. He plays as a winger or striker for the Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC. He leads the Indian national team as well as Bengaluru FC. He is generally known as Captain Fantastic. He has scored the 2nd highest number of goals in international matches among major players after Cristiano Ronaldo.

Virat is counted amongst the very best players, that Indian cricket or world cricket has ever seen. He plays for the Indian Cricket team, captaining the Test Team and is the vice-captain for the other formats. He was born on November 5, 1988 in Delhi, India. His is a prominent batsman who is right handed and sometimes bowls with the style of right-arm medium pace. He also plays in the international cricket tournament, Indian Premiere League, as the captain for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Pullela Gopichand is a well-known former Indian badminton player. He is the Chief Coach of the National Indian Badminton Team. He was born on 16 November 1973 in Nagandla, Andhra Pradesh. His father is Mr. Pullela Subash Chandra, and his mother is  Mrs. Pullela Subbaravamma. He studied at St. Paul High School, Hyderabad, and completed graduation in Public Administration from A.V College, Hyderabad. His wife is P.V.V Lakshmi, a fellow badminton player.

Abhinav Bindra is a well-known  Indian shooter. He was the first sportsperson to win an individual gold medal in the Olympics in 2008. He was born on 28 September 1982 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He studied at The Doon School, Dehradun, and St. Stephen’s School, Chandigarh, and completed graduation in business administration from the University of Colorado Boulder, US. He was trained in Germany by coach Gaby Buhlman.

Mahesh Shrinivas Bhupathi is a former Indian tennis player born on 07th June 1974 in Madras, Tamil Nadu. Mahesh used to compete in the doubles category and was the World No. 1. He pursued graduation at the University of Mississippi, United States. He is now married to Lara Dutta and has a daughter, Saira. As a tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi played the French Open in 1997 with his Japanese partner Rika Hari in the mixed doubles category. Together they won the French Open, making him the first Indian to achieve a victory at a major tournament. In 1999, Mahesh and his Indian partner Leander Paes became the first pair to reach the finals of all four Grand Slams since 1952.

Sanjiv Goenka is a renowned chairman of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. He was born in 29th January, 1961 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He did his graduation from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He works as a member of the Council on Trade & Industry for Prime Minister and is also serving as the Chairman of Woodlands Medical Centre Ltd.
