Bengali actress Tanima Sen is one of the few female actors to enter the small screen (TV), big screen (film) and theater world after marriage. She had indeed broken the barrier for women. Her successful career in Bengali TV serials and films had dispelled the myth that married women can not become successful actors. She made her debut in TV serials after marriage with ‘Jodi Emon Hoto’ in 1995-96. Earlier to her debut in small screen, she was very much active in the theater which made her instant sensation. She appeared in a play ’Baluchari’ that was staged at Star Theatre in Kolkata and the play had continued for 500 shows. She also tried her hands as a playwright and had written a play “Swarger Kache” which was staged by theatre group Rangmahal. 

Mamata Shankar was born on 7th January 1955 in Kolkata, West Bengal. She belongs to Bengal’s one of the most influential family. Her parents, Uday Shankar and Amala Shankar both were legendary dancers and choreographers of their time. Her brother, Ananda Shankar is a well know indo-western fusion musician. She is also the niece of Pandit Ravi Shankar and cousin to Norah Jones. Mamata received her training in dance and choreography from her father’s institute called Uday Shankar Indian Culture Centre and got trained by her mother itself. She is married to Chandrodoy Ghosh and had two sons- Ratul Shankar and Rajit Shankar Ghosh. Her husband Chadrodoy presently runs Udayan- Mamata Shankar Dance Academy along with Mamata founded in the year 1986.

Roopa Ganguly or Rupa Ganguly is well known for her memorable role as Draupadi in B. R. Chopra’s ‘Mahabharat 1988 TV Series’. Roopa a.k.a Draupadi as she is known was born in Kalyani (Kolkata) on 25th November 1966. She did her schooling from Beltala Girl’s High School and obtained a bachelors degree from Jogmaya Devi College, Calcutta University.

Saheb Chatterjee is a famous Bengali actor cum singer, who is born and brought up in Calcutta. Saheb Chatterjee turned popular after performing Rabindranath Tagore’s songs, Rabindra Sangeet. He is notable for his playback singing in the 1992 movie, Goopy Bagha Phirey Elo under the music composition of Satyajit Ray. He has worked in movies like ‘Chobiyal’ (2020), ‘Prime Time’ (2015), ‘Borodin’ (2018), ‘Force’ (2014), ‘Chand Pahari’ (2013), ‘Mukti’ (2013), ‘Lattu’ (2013), ‘Amra Paanch’ (2013), ‘Challenge 2’ (2012), ‘Premer Fande Kakatua’ (2009), and ‘Sudhu Tumi’ (2004). He is also a part of Bengali TV serials like ‘Sreemoyee,’ ‘Shubho Drishti’ (2018), ‘Tithir Atithi,’ ‘Khela,’ ‘Bamakhyapa,’ and ‘Checkmate’ (2018).
