Zero is a romantic thriller with supernatural elements in it. Let’s see how the movie has turned out.

Plot

Ashwin Kakumanu Ashwin Kakumannu is a Tamil film actor born on 5 J >> Read More... and Sshivada Nair Sshivada is a well-known actress in the Malayalam >> Read More... are a newly wedded couple. Ashwin plays the role of a social activist. The couple moves to an apartment and life goes on smoothly. But suddenly Sshivada experiences some supernatural happenings in her dream and her dream world takes control of her. Ashwin is quite able to understand the situation and tries his best to sort out things. The couple very badly wants to be attached to each other. Suddenly a strange person helps Ashwin. Does Sshivada get normal? What is the role of the strange person in the film? Watch the movie to know.

Star Performances

Ashwin plays the role of a doting husband with conviction. Sshivada has got a meaty role (one who is finding hard to draw a line of demarcation between realism and fantasy) to play, and she does full justice to her role. J. D. Chakravarthy impresses us with his comic touch and body language. Ravi Raghavendar and Thulasi have done a neat job.

Analysis

Zero is a blend of realism and dreams, and the director Sihv Mohaa has managed to handle the horror elements well.

What’s there?

  • The horror dimension is executed well in the movie.
  • The movie seems to be well-researched.
  • The voiceover of ace director Gautam Menon is commendable.
  • BGM of Nivas K Prasanna is excellent. Also, his music, especially the songs Uyire Un Uyirena and Engae Ponaai, deserve special mention.
  • Babu Kumar’s cinematography is appealing.
  • Editing of Sudharshan is topnotch.

What’s not there?

  • Some sequences may test your patience.
  • Sometimes we are not able to understand what is happening.
  • The screenplay is written such that the movie takes its own time in unraveling things.

Verdict

Zero will be a different experience for the Tamil movie-goers. Can very well go for it.
