Thozha is based on the well-known French movie The Intouchables Click to look into! >> Read More... . Let’s see how it has turned out.

Plot

Karthik Sivakumar is a cheat who wants to win in life through shortcuts. Akkineni Nagarjuna is a billionaire who is hit by an unusual disease and is bound to the wheelchair. And by now you would have understood what happens next. Destiny has it that these two meet and Karthi becomes the caretaker of Nagarjuna, through the latter's very own interest. They develop good rapport and eventually become thick friends. Why is Nagarjuna in such a state? Does Karthi stand tall inspite of not being liked by Nagarjuna's secretary Tamannaaah, and Prakash Raj Prakash Raj, born on 26th of March, 1965, as Praka >> Read More... ? What is the depth of the bond between Nagarjuna and Karthi? Watch the movie to find out.

Star Performances

Sometimes the actors do an earnest job but it will appear to be overacting. But Nagarjuna does his role of a person whose main aim in life is to be happy, in a flawless manner. The characterization of Nagarjuna has been done well and in this regard the alien accent of him can be forgiven. As for Karthi, he excels in his slang and his body language is commendable. Tamannaah, though has a brief role, has understood the nuances of her character and pulls it off with ease. Late actress Kalpana impresses us while Prakash Raj, as usual, does a convincing job. The cameos of famous stars are worth mentioning.

Analysis

Life is too good to be spent in a sad manner. Director Vamsi Padipallyhas understood this well and hence has laced the movie with philosophy. And yes, he emerges winner in doing so.

What’s there?

  • The viewers can empathize with the characters of Nagarjuna and Karthi.
  • The dialogues of Murugesh Babu and Raju Murugan Raju Murugan was a writer, journalist, and screenw >> Read More... are appreciable and they have a philosophical touch to them.
  • The comedy track between Prakash Raj and Karthi will surely tickle your humor bones.
  • P S Vinod’s cinematography is excellent ; he captures Paris in a convincing manner.
  • The sentimental scenes are sans melodrama. This is highly appreciable.
  • Gopi Sunder’s BGM is good.

What’s not there?

  • The songs seem to be irrelevant.
  • Editor Praveen KL could have worked more on the editing.

Verdict

The plot of the film may be time-tested but it’s the execution that works for Thozha!
