1. Remya Nambeesan
Remya Nambeesan is a chirpy young Indian actress, whose primary focus is Mollywood. Born on January 1, 1986, Remya Nambeesan was introduced into the film industry with the 2000 Malayalam flick Sayahnam. R Sarath helmed direction for this flick. After that, she went on to work in various Malayalam films as a child artiste. Then she was seen in insignificant supporting roles including Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka, Gramophone, etc. She had worked under the direction of Sarath for three times. Eventually, she got lead roles since the year 2006.

Indian top model and Telugu and Tamil star Anjali was born in Andhara Pardesh in 1986. Acting was her passion so she started her career from short films. Small projects like short films and modeling assignments lead her to the silver screen. Director Siva Nageswara Rao recognized her talent and offered her the role of “Swapna” in Telugu Thriller “Photo” in 2006. Start of her career was from low budget and low profile Telugu films.

This was the start of a long list of successful films. She has worked in more than 20 Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films.
She won her first “Filmfare award for best actress” and “Tamil Vijay award for best actress” in 2010 for the movie “Angadi Theru”. But this wasn’t the end. She got one more “Filmfare award of best actress” in 2011 for “Engaeyum Eppothum”. These consecutive awards made her a superstar of South Cinema. Her journey towards fame is continued yet. Many of her films are hitting the screen this year that can bring more success to her career.

Born on 4th May, 1983 in Palakkad by Krishnan and Uma Krishnan as her parents. Before starting her carrer in modelling and acting, she did her schooling from Sacred Heart Matriculation school in Church Park and then BBA from Ethiraj College for Women (Chennai). She entered into film industry after making a mark as a model and winning several beauty pageants like Miss Salem and Miss Madras in the same year. In 2001, she won Miss India Pageant “Beautiful Smile” award. She got her first acting break in Tamil film Jodie. After that, she got her first lead role in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002) opposite Surya and won critical acclaim.

Kadalora Kavithaigal was her debut movie in the year 1986 and she performed as a teacher in that movie quite naturally. She was accompanied by Sathyaraj and Raja in that movie. It was a hit movie and Rekha was popularly called as Kadalora Kavithaigal Rekha. In the next year, she was called upon by the legendary director Balachandar to appear as a guest in his movie. Suraj (also spelled as Suraaj) is an Indian Director. He is active in Tamil cinema and is best known for his masala and action flicks. He started his journey as an Assistant Director. In the year 1996, he worked with Sundar C. as an assistant director and has worked with him in three films namely Allitha, Ullathai and Mettukudi. He continued assisting for two years. In 1997, he assisted for ‘Arunachalam’ which casted South Indian Superstar Rajinikanth. He also Co-directed the flick ‘Janakiraman’. Suraj finally made his Directorial Debut in the year 1998 with ‘Moovendhar’ which has Devayani and R. Sarathkumar as the leads. It turned out to be a huge commercial as well as critical failure.

Jayam Ravi is a good dancer and he had studied dance when he was just 12. Also, he is skilled in martial arts. The film “M Kumaran-Son of Mahalakshmi” was a turning point in his career and he was widely appreciated by both critics and audience. This film fetched him the Best Actor Award in the Tamil Nadu State Film Award.

After the invasion of many comedians like Santhanam and Suri, the chances get lessened for Vivek. He performed as Eka in the Dhanush movie Uthamaputhiran, which was outstanding. Singham of Surya had Vivek as a Police constable. His recent movies are Velai Illa Pattadhaari with Dhanush and Yennai Arindhaal with Ajith. He has also acted as a solo hero in the film named Nan Than Bala. The film did not go well as expected, but he has won positive criticism from the critics.

Soori is a South Indian actor in Kollywood. His nickname is “Parotta Soori’ which has been derived from his Tamil movie that he had acted. In 2009, he acted in a film ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’(2009) where a scene was shot with a crew of actors, who sit together and eat Parotta by keeping a challenge who eats more Parotta’s. In this scene, Parotta Soori performed his best, so people coined his name as Parotta Soori. Basically, he appeared as a comedian in many Tamil movies. After the film became a blockbuster, he never looked back. He is doing five to six films in a year. Today, this dusky lad with the moustache look has placed him in line with other comedians like Vadivelu, Santhanam and Goundamani. He is in peak of his career today playing comedian roles and doing a number of movies with the lead actors. With his popularity reaching a new height, the actor even now demands to play a lead role in some movies. Although these movies are not yet been officially announced, we can hear the announcement very soon. He has rejected some new movies that came in his hand and want now a scripted-backing role for his comedy touch. It is believed that a film in which he would play a lead actor, a need for new heroine is all the way. This actor was born on August 27, 1977 in Madurai. When he was new in the industry, he shared the screen as one of the junior artistes and did side acting only. Later on, he got comedy roles, which had given him a good chance to show his timing comedy sense and dialogue delivery on the screen.
He was a very busy actor in between 2011-14, that placed him with other comedians like Vadivelu or Santhanam. There was neck-to-neck completion amongst every comedians and he also got a nice space to expose his great timing comedy sense amidst talented actors and actresses, which became a good factor behind every movies. His best films are Thillu Mullu, Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai and Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara etc. Film lovers today prefer more subtle comedic performers and even opt for a slapstick actor, who can crack jokes in every second of the movies. Thaman, a 28-year-old hails from a family of musicians from Pottepalam. His father Ghantasala Siva Kumar was a Drummer; mother Ghantasala Savitri is a playback singer and his aunt P.Vasantha is also singer. Thaman married Vardhini, who is a playback singer.

With his friends, Selva decided to try his hand in movies. Initially, Selva started making short clips which he directed as well as edit them. Na. Muthukumar is a poet, lyricist, writer and novelist, who writes in Tamil. He is famous for writing scripts and songs for Tamil films. Na. Muthukumar was born on 12 July 1975 in a small village named ‘Tirur’ near Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. His Father, Mr Nagaraj was a Tamil teacher.Mr Nagaraj always maintained a collection of 5000 books throughout his life, and after he had passed away, this collection was preserved by his son in his office. Also, his mother passed away when he was merely four years old. Muthukumar reminisces that he acquired most of the knowledge of his life from his father’s book collection. Also, to help others he has plans to open a library where everybody could access those books. Na. Muthukumar began his career with a dream to be a director. So, he started working under director Balu Mahendra for about four years as assistant director. But due to turn of events, he landed into being a lyricist. He began with writing the lyrics for the Tamil movie ‘Veera Nadai’ which was directed by Seeman.

Prabhu Ganesan or better known as Prabhu is a prominent Indian entrepreneur, producer, comedian and actor who mainly appear in Tamil films. He was born on December 25, 1956 in Chennai, India. His mother is Kamala and his father, Sivaji Ganesan is a stage and film actor during the 20th century. Prabhu is the father of Vikram Prabhu, who is making a name in the Tamil film industry. Chithra Laksmanan was born on January 22, 1948. He is a journalist-turned actor, producer and director. When his friend, P. Bharathiraja became a director, Chithra has the chance to work with him as an associate director. He worked in over 25 Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. His very first project as a film producer is from the 1983 Tamil film, Mann Vasanai under the direction of P. Bharathiraja. Later, he produced many films with several actors, producers and directors like Kamal Hasaan, Karthik, Prabhu, Sathyaraj and many more. Then in year 1987, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran governed the 100th day function of the Tamil crime film, Jallikattu which he produced along with Chitra Ramu, under the direction of Manivannan. He was also the producer of the films, Vaazhkai and Chinnappadass.
He was debuted as a director in the 1988 Tamil film, Soora Samhaaram which stars Kamal Hasaan. Subsequently, Chithra directed the 1997 Tamil drama film, Periya Thambi with actor, Prabhu. He also produced and directed the 1999 Tamil film, Chinna Raja which stars Karthik in the main lead role.
Chithra works in the Tamil Film Producers Council for a span of four years as a Secretary. He also works in the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, FFI or the Film Federation of India and in Tamil Film Directors Association as an Executive Committee Member for several years. In 2002, he was also one of the Jury in the National Film Awards and he was also voted to be an Executive Committee Member in the Tamil Film Producers Council in 2011.
Chithra became an actor as Munusamy Guide in 1985 Tamil film, Japanil Kalyanaraman and since then, he got the chance to work in over 50 films like Periya Thambi, Unnai Ninaithu, Bose, Giri, London, Kusthi, Dhanam, Boss Engira Bhaskaran, Saguni, Isakki, Settai, Pattathu Yaanai, Ya Ya, Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham, Nimirndhu Nil and a lot more.
He was debuted as a television actor in Sun TV’s Ganga Yamuna Saraswathi along with M. S. Bhaskar. Then he appeared as the father of Reshmi (played by Sabarna) in Sondha Bandham in 2012. Then he was casted in the mega serial, Idhayam on Sun TV, followed by the Tamil super hit serial, Anantham.
In 2011, Chithra published the first part of the book, 80 Years of Tamil Cinema. The book is all about the Tamil Cinema’s History comprising of some very rare photos and latest information about the growth of Tamil cinema from the year 1931 to 2011.
28. M M Manasi
M. M. Manasi – The versatile playback singer, who started her singing career in the movies at the age of 9. She was born on 8th January 1993 and her native place is Chennai. She was trained for 15 years in Hindustani vocal. Though her hometown was Chennai, she was brought up in Mumbai. She started to learn the music at the age of 2. Her first performances were during the festivals such as Navaratri and Ganapathi Chaturthi. Her family encouraged her a lot, and good encouragement can go a long way. Manasi has mentioned her t parents' encouragement in a lot of interviews and stages. Her inspiration was K. Pop and Ilayaraja. She is not only a playback singer but she is also a dubbing artist. She finished her studies in the D. g. Vaishnav College in Management.
