It is sometimes fascinating to read about how film stars, especially in the South, get into the industry from totally diverse fields, and with no conscious intentions to be in movies. Andrea Jeremiah’s career seems to fit into this category. Her childhood ambition was to go for higher studies and get to become a psychiatrist. But music was always in the background, as she started learning classical Western piano when she was just eight, and she quickly showed her prowess when she formed her own troupe called Young Stars which also was a precursor for her later singing and music composing career.

Gayathrie Shankar is the current crop of Tamil actress list. She has been seen in leading roles in some Tamil films. She was supposed to debut with the film, Yen Ippadi Mayakkinai, but the film unfortunately didn’t get released. Her first film was 18 Vayasu. The turning point of her career was the film Naduvila Konjam Pakkatha Kanom. Gayathrie has acted in over 5 films in Tamil. 

Gayathrie worked in a couple of films during the year 2013, namely Mathapoo and Ponmalai Pozhudhu. Later, she was paired with Vijay Sethupathi in the film Rummy. The film also had Aishwarya Rajesh. Gayathrie feels that her co-star Vijay Sethupathy is hardworking and sincere. 

Gayathrie hails from Bangalore, but her mother tongue is Tamil. Her parents are bank employees. She has a degree in Psychology. The acting prowess of Gayathrie is yet to be seen.

Gayathrie was just studying in 12th standard, when she received film offers. It was like a dream for her and once she mentioned that she took up acting just for the sake of it and never actually planned. She has also revealed that stage fright and agitation over public speaking affected her, but she came out of that once she entered the film industry. 

Gayathrie had confessed that, she is like a gypsy by heart and would have taken up something related to psychology if she was not an actress. 

When she was studying in 12th standard she got the film En Ippadi Mayakkinai, but the film was not released and hence in the gap she pursued her degree, much to the happiness of her mother. 

Gayathrie owes to director Krishna for making her act without fear. She had 4 months training in acting. Later she was not afraid to face the camera. She has big dreams after En Ippadi Mayakkinai. Gayathrie was very much involved in the movie. 

Gayathrie likes Sivaji Ganesan, Amrish Puri, Nasureedin Shah and Rajinikanth. She wants to work with Maniratnam, Goutam Menon, Murugadoss and to name a few.

Balaji Tharaneetharan is a Chennai boy and started his career in cinema by making short films, editing corporate films and documentaries and also worked as a dialogue writer before becoming a full -time director. He believes that scripting is the key to making a film. Balaji has gained his inspiration from film makers like Mahendhren, Balu Mahendra, Mani Ratnam and Bharathiraja but Bhagyaraj, and his film “Antha Ezhu Naatkal” is his all-time favourite. Balaji is one of the very talented directors from the Tamil film industry who proved himself in his first directorial debut with his comedy film “ Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom”. The movie was released on 30 November 2012 all over the state featuring one of the most talented and genuine actors in Kollywood industry, Vijay Sethupathi.

Since 2012, Kollywood as well as the Indian film industry, has been gifted with a talented producer, VS Rajkumar. VS Rajkumar entered the industry with a blockbuster film, ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom.’

C Premkumar is a veteran director and is the director of two movies till now. These movies include 96 and Madhavan. He worked as the cinematographer in the film Yeidhavan. Both these films released in Tamil language. He is a very talented director, and we can be expecting more films from him shortly. Both of his movies hit the theatres in the year 2017. The movie 96 hit the theatre on February 14th, 2017, whereas Yeidhavan released on May 12th, 2017. He started his career in 2017 and is new to the industry, but he is still very appreciated in the Tamil film industry. 96 is a forthcoming Tamil-language film which is written and directed by C. Prem Kumar who previously handled the shooting for Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. The movie stars Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan in the major role and the picture is funded by Nandagopal of Madras Enterprises.

Siddharth Vipin is a music producer and an actor who works in the Tamil film industry. He was born on 7 November 1985 in the city of Salem in Tamil Nadu. His father was Vipin Chandra. The actor did his graduation in B.Com from the Loyola College, Chennai. Other than B.Com, he also has a degree in sound engineering from the SAE Institute.

Ved Shankar is a music director who predominantly composes music for Tamil movies. But then this music director began his career as a student of A.R. Rahman. He was chosen by the veteran Rahman as a promising student in KM Music Conservatory.

Karthik Netha is an Indian writer, lyricist, and poet. He mostly works in Tamil film industry. He is best known for his work in movies Thirumanam Enum Nikkah, 96, Monster and many more. He was born in Salem district of Tamil Nadu, India. He is currently living in Chennai, India. He started his career by working as an assistant song-writer of Na. Muthukumar. He then worked for many movies including ‘Thotti Jaya’ in 2005, ‘Vaagai Sooda Va’ in 2011 and ‘Dear Comrade’ in 2019. Some of the famous songs he has written are ‘Theera Kadhal’, ‘Anithimalai neram’, ‘Adikadi Mudi’, ‘Pada Pada’, etc.

Mano (Real name- Nagoor Babu) is a famous South Indian playback singer. He was not only a great singer but also a voice-over artist, an actor, a producer, a television anchor and a music composer. He was born to Father Rasool (Musician in All India Radio) and Mother Shaheeda (stage actress) on 26th October 1963 in Satterapalli, Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, he joined the stage theater and had role played as many historical characters. As he had said in an interview “I have always been impressed by my dear mother’s talent and she has always been and will always be my inspiration.”

Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi was not born with silver spoon. Neither did he have a family background that had deep roots in cinema field. He was rejected even for the role of a junior artist. But it was his hard work and continuous struggle, that made him a star that he is today.

In 2012, Bagvathi made his first momentous contribution on the silver screen with Balaji Tharaneethaaran’s film Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanoom. Since then, he has featured in a lot of film projects and has worked with quite a few renowned faces in the industry.
