Saleema

Saleema was born in the Sriranga district of Andhra Pradesh, India. She is the daughter of the very popular Telugu actress Girija, who had acted in nearly fifty films, most of them in Telugu. Saleema was initially interested in becoming a professional dancer but later she picked up a knack for acting as it runs in her blood. She mainly acted in Malayalam movies with a few movies in Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil.

The span of her career was very short as it lasted for only fourteen years lasting from 1975 to 1989, which is a subtle period considering her talent and skill in the field. In her entire career, she must have acted in nearly fifteen movies in various languages, but mostly in Malayalam. Despite the amount of movies that she had worked in, she gained a considerable amount of name and respect in the industry due to her performance alone.

For example, she played the second heroine in the Malayalam classic film ‘ Vandanam Vandanam, a captivating Malayalam TV program airin >> Read More... ’. Before acting in ‘Vandanam’, which was released in 1989, she played the lead role in the 1988 film ‘Aranyakam’ which was also appreciated by her fans and audience. One of the milestone in her career was her performance in the film ‘Nakhakshathangal’. She proved to the world that not only had she inherited her mother’s talent for acting, but she had also worked hard on polishing that talent and raised it to a whole new level.

The movie, which was released in 1986, shows her play the part of a deaf and mute girl. The amount of preparation that she had made inured to immerse herself into the shoes of the character was very apparent, and the intensity of emotions grips the viewers that they are overcome with on seeing the character being portrayed on screen. Even though she had only acted in a few movies, her career was very eventful and rewarding for her, as well as the people who’ve seen her movies.
