One of India’s most well known child actresses, Taruni was the face of Rasna, India’s favourite fruit drink. She also won over the hearts of millions of people with her role alongside in Paa.

Born on the 14th of May, 1998 to Mumbai based industrialist Haresh Sachdev and Geetha Sachdev, she did her schooling from the Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls High School, Bandra, Mumbai. Her mother was a congregation member at the Radha Gopinath ISKCON Temple in Mumbai, where Taruni performed in dramas at temple festivals.

Her career started in 2003, and saw her act in several TV advertisements including ads for Colgate, ICICI bank, LG, Coffee Bite, Shakthi Masala, Rasna and LG. As one of the highest paid child actresses of her time, she had more than 50 ads to her credit being remembered the most for her role in the Rasna ad along with Karishma Kapoor.

She had acted in two Malayalam movies in the year 2004, Vellinakshatram alongside Prithviraj, and in Satyam, along side Prithviraj and Thilakan. She also acted in Hindi movies including The Mystery of the Third Planet & Paa. In a role that she is widely remembered for, Taruni got to work alongside insdutry legend Amitabh Bachchan, and , both of whom remember the child star with affection.

Taruni was killed in a plane crash in Nepal on her 14th birthday, 14th May 2012 while travelling in .Agni Air Flight CHT. The crash also claimed the life of her mother, Geetha Sachdev who was travelling with her.
