K Gopinathan is a famous philosophy professor, filmmaker, and critic in Kerala. He is associated with the Malayalam film industry. K. Gopinathan started his career as a writer in the 1980s as a JNU student. He was actively involved in student politics, film, and theater movements during college. He has directed three documentaries, Mundassery: Kalaghattathinte Muzhakkam (1997), Swaathanthrya Sangeethika (1999), and Maythil (2010). Gopinathan also directed two feature films, Ithramatram (2012) and Samarppanam (2017).
