Plot

Rambabu is the last person who would accept love as it is. Yet, he falls head over heels for a fellow villager, Sita. Despite knowing that their union is the best thing to happen, Sita’s father refuses the alliance. Will Rambabu’s love prevail?

Star Performances

Venkatesh Vipparthi does his best to deliver a simple, yet effective romantic drama. His writing may or may not be good, but he does give his best in terms of direction.

Subbu Mudhunuri’s performance as the lovelorn protagonist is one of the key highlights of this film. He carries the burden of almost the entire film on his shoulders.

Analysis

Girl loves boy. Boy loves girl. Parents don’t approve of the alliance. The boy gets distraught. Who will prevail?

The basic plotline might be another run-of-the-mill love story, but ‘I Hate Love’ isn’t. Venkatesh Vipparthi does his best to bring a rustic charm to his screenplay. He focuses more on the human emotions. Initially, he does a good job and almost succeeds at bringing out the best in his characters.

The rustic background of this film is another great point. Much of it has to do with the brilliant visuals captured by Vasu Nayak, one of the main cinematographers of this film. However, beyond a level, this film fails to strike a chord. This has not much to do with the direction or even the performances but with the limited scope of this film’s screenplay. Some of the key points were already disclosed within the trailer. As such, there is nothing much to feel take back.

However, the acting performances somehow make up for the flaws. Subbu Mudhunuri as the lead protagonist Rambabu gives a memorable performance. He is complemented in this act by Seelam Srivalli, who plays his love interest, and Ravi Malldi, who plays an influential role in the same film. The supporting actors do an equally fine job of maintaining the pace of the film.

Verdict

‘I Hate Love’ is not a path-breaking film in terms of basic storyline. However, Venkatesh Vipparthi does his best to make up for it with his direction. The actors also do their best, making this film a good one-time watch.
