As the name suggests, “ The Unsound Click to look into! >> Read More... ” deals with the theme of persons suffering from psychotic disorders and the effect this has on their lives and behavior.
The element of thrill and suspense is woven into the film by way of probing into the background of the earlier life of the protagonist and unraveling a deep mystery which has relevance to the present also.
Plot:
The correctness of medical theories apart, this story is about one Dev Oberoi, portrayed by Shadab Khan, who is supposed to be afflicted by a psychotic disorder that makes him act and behave in peculiar ways.
It ranges from bouts of depression and desperation to extreme violence also. To complicate matters further, his wife leaves him in that condition and carries along their 5-year-old daughter with her.
To add insult, she even spurns maintenance. On the other side our protagonist scores his point by falling head over heels in love with a hostess of the restaurant, called Simran (played by Anurita Jha Of late there seems to be quite a number of young >> Read More... ) where he was having lunch with his just deserted wife.
Dev does not stop there, but his psychotic aliment seems to be pushing him further, when a doctor friend of his, Dr. Kshitij Saxena introduces him to a female psychiatrist Joana, who in addition to her diagnostic skills is additionally an extremely attractive lady in her own right. Quite significantly she agrees to treat Dev for free.
Things move fast, and Dev and Joana get intimate in no time, even over overlooking the committed relationship between her and Dr. Saxena, Dev’s close friend. Entangled as he is in this game of entries and exits in his life, it gets increasingly difficult to guess who is on whose side, and whether seemingly cordial relations are really what they appear to be.
What lies ahead is the answer to so many mysteries - will Joana be successful in unravelling the buried dark secrets of Dev’s violent past and his present unpredictable manners to give him a better future? Finally, can she extract herself from the unsound nature of Dev’s mind? Going through the film one is really kept wondering whether all those high-flown medical terminologies to describe the condition of the protagonist are just a hyped up façade to cover up all the usual goings on of a so-called “thriller”.
Unfortunately, though labelled as a thriller there are hardly any thrills. There are a series of disjointed events only, which make no coherent meaning even by the time the film ends. These events are conveniently passed on to the unpredictable and psychotic nature of the protagonist.
Somehow the film suffers a lot on the credibility front too – otherwise there can hardly be any reason to make even highly qualified lady doctors wear skimpy clothes on the job! Since the film fails on the most basic premises that a film can be judged on, it seems irrelevant to get into finer areas of assessment – suffice to say that the film seems to be horribly ill conceived and even more outrageously executed.
Verdict:
Unfortunately, there are hardly any positives to recommend to viewers, and one can view this film only if they would like to find out the extent to which absurdity can go down to!
