Plot
In 1999, Suhani is living a content life, and is loved by one and all. However, she gets shocked when she comes to know that she was actually a Sikh by birth, and she was separated from her family in the 1984 riots? Will Suhani manage to relocate her original family?
Star Performances
Both the actors, who played different versions of Suhani, have done their best with the role. Even the supporting actors did a good job with their respective roles.
Aditya Ranoliya did a good job as the director, and tried to make the film as evocative and engaging as possible.
Analysis
1984 is an unforgettable year in the Indian history. However, what happened in late 1984 is something not many would love to remember. The death of PM Indira Gandhi, and the anti Sikh riots that followed is a dark chapter of our history, and ‘The Lost Girl’ sheds some light on the same.
However, instead of going behind those who caused it, the movie takes a safer road. The movie explores the social impact through the eyes of a young girl, who learns that she was separated from her original family in 1984. The vision is noble, and so is the direction by Aditya Ranoliya to a large extent.
The visuals are surprisingly good for a movie like this. Aronica Ranoliya and Prachi Bansal, who played different versions of the main protagonist Suhani, have done a fair, if not outstanding job with their role. The supporting cast has done a fine job with their respective role.
However, if one thing prevented this movie from becoming an absolute masterpiece, it is the editing. Despite the runtime being less than 2 and a half hours, the movie feels excruciatingly, and borderline boring in certain sequences. On that note, Arvind Akhilesh Shukla has disappointed the masses as the editor. Even if Aditya Ranoliya did not do bad with the direction, he certainly should have focused more on proper editing.

Verdict
‘The Lost Girl’ is a movie that had its heart in the right place. If not for the sluggish pace, this movie would have been a surprise package. The visuals are decent, and the acting performances try to make up for the mess created. Overall, this film is good for a one time watch.
