1. Auroshikha Dey

20-08-2019/auroshikha-dey.jpg It has been a long way from remote Tezpur in Assam to the Mumbai cine word for Auroshikha. While she always harboured this desire to be an actress, she was pretty serious about it, and besides her training in classical dance from early childhood, also went to the IIFT Pune for a getting trained into acting. She confides that the path to achieving her status in the film world was not very easy, but does not fret about it. In fact she is thankful for the way the film industry has welcomed her into its fold, when she made her maiden appearance in Hindi Films in 2012 in “Myoho” playing a central role. The film was one with a heavy message for society, and in the film she was pitted against her fellow IIFTian Kanwaljit Singh. In fact she has acted in quite a lot of films dealing with social evils like Seema Kapoor's movie, “Haat” dealing with gender bias against females, produced under the aegis of the of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). The film has participated in various international film festivals from 2011 onwards and drawn kudos for it from all quarters. In between to satiate her acting instincts, she has not differentiated between regional and Hindi films but gone ahead and acted in quite a few regional films, including one in her own mother tongue Bengali, entitled, “Rongpencil” based on the “Pather Panchali” famous novelist, Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay’s story; and a Malayalam film called “De Nova - The Road Less Trodden”, where she was cast in the heroine’s role. In fact she has also acted recently in an international short film entitled “Point of Origin” which was the recipient of worldwide acclaim. Her noteworthy mainstream films include the recently released NH-8 on an slightly off beat semi psychological theme in which she has to portray a rather difficult role, which even the audience may not come to like. However, she loves a challenge and took it up to win appreciation from niche circles. She has also acted with Naseeruddin Shah in “Charlie Ke Chakkar Mein”, portraying the character of a rookie officer in an investigative role. She has a Nagesh Kukunoor film also to her credit, “Ye Hosla”, playing one of the main roles in a woman centric film, boasting of veterans Tanuja and Tanvi Azmi as her co-stars in the film.
