The latest animated fantasy film on the block Anubis, produced by 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios, is already drawing a great deal of attention although it's release date is about two years from now- on 23rd March 2018 (It was postponed from its initial release date of July, 2016 as a means to make way for the release of Ice Age 5).
From the director of Ice Age, Bunny (Academy Award winner for best Animated Short Film), and Robots, Chris Wedge and producer Lori Forte, (among others) comes the promise of taking their audience on a mystical journey into the land of the deceased, where the Egyptian God of Death, Anubis, resides.
The storyline is borrowed from a children's book titled, “The Anubis Tapestry: Between Twilights” written by Bruce Zick, that was released in 2006. Although many aspects of the film, including the cast, are yet to be decided the plot follows a young boy, who goes by the name Chance, into the realms of the Underworld to free his father, Dr. George Henry, from a curse cast on him by a mummy condemning him into the depths of the world ruled by Anubis. The audience accompanies Chance while he encounters various struggles along his path, including notorious monsters, as he tries to reach for his father.
The soundtrack for the movie will be by Fernando Velázquez, the famous composer pre-eminently known for his score for the film The Orphanage.
