Harshika Rathnayake is an actress, a performing artist, a dancer, and a choreographer. She hails from the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka. She received her education from Swarnamali Balika Vidhyalaya in Kandy itself. She studied for a Masters in Drama and Theatre at the University of Kelaniya. She has also studied for a Masters of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She also studied for a Post- post-graduate diploma in Education (PGDE) at the University of Colombo. Along with that, she has also studied for a Diploma in National Choreography at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute and she completed a short course in research from the University of Visual and Performing Arts in Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

She is known for her work in the TV series- Heily which was on air in 2019 and for her work in the movie, The Wandering Life which released in 2021. Other than that, she has worked as a guest lecturer at Kelaniya University, at Department of Fine Arts- Peradeniya University, Sri Jayawardenepura University and The Sri Lanka Faculty of Education. She taught at Whyteleafe Performing Arts Academy and worked in teledrama films and as a stage drama actor. She was also seen on interactive platforms like Inside Dance which focussed on classical conversation with in-depth discussion about the journey of a dancer and the philosophies of dance. Her YouTube videos are also linked with channels like CharanTv and Saman4You.
