Pappu Karki was a known Kumaoni (Pahadi) singer. He was born on 30th June 1984, in Uttarakhand. He did his schooling in Pithrogarh, Uttarakhand. He was trained in singing under Guru Sri Krishna Singh Karki and started his career with Rama Cassettes. He had a very tough journey initially when he struggled for six years in Delhi. In 2010, he released his album Jhham Ladadhi, which got very popular. During her struggling days, he participated in Uttarakhand Idol, and he was appreciated by many. He stood in the second position in the competition. He also won the Best Debut Folk Singer award at an award ceremony held in Mussoorie and the U.K. Best Singer award. In 2015, he received the Gopal Bapu Goswami Award in Mumbai.
