Jerry Braganza is a famous director, producer, and actor. He has directed and produced many films and also worked as an actor in many films. He is also called the father of Konkani films because after independence, all the attempts to make Konkani films failed, but on 24 April 1950 a Konkani film made by Jerry Braganza was released named Mogacho Anvdo (Love's Craving). Hence 24th April, the release day of his movie, is celebrated as Konkani Film Day. He received Portuguese and English language education.

After this, he came to Mumbai in the year 1940, from where he completed the rest of his studies at Bombay Tutorial College. He started working in the workshop of IEME in Colaba. After this, he got a job as a telephone operator in the Indian News Parade. He also worked as the Chief Controller of Production at Geeta Pictures and Studios, where he worked under Ravindra Vyas, a renowned film personality.

When he saw posters of English and Hindi films, he thought of making a film in Konkani. He told this idea to his mentor, who told him to proceed further. After this, he advertised in many places for the role of hero and heroine of his film, but he did not get any positive response. He chose a woman working as a telephone operator for the heroine of his movie. The film was presented to the censor on 3 August 1949 and was released simultaneously in Mumbai and Goa on 24 April 1950.

Al Jerry Braganza also worked in Shanti Films and comedian Bhagwan. He also works as an assistant director at Navkala Films. Jerry produced the first Konkani film under the banner of ETICA (Exchange Talkies of India, China, and Africa). In which he played the role of the hero and also composed and sang songs.
