Srimathi is a daily soap opera focussing on the hardships faced by two people who loved each other. Srivalli and Sri Ram love each other. Srivalli belongs to a rich family. Her parents, Venkatadri and Sarada, are set in their ways. They do not approve of their marriage as Sri Ram doesn’t belong to their caste. Srivalli runs away from home with Sri Ram, but her parents think she has disappeared. After running a search party for a few days, he gets to know that she has run away. He sends people after them and orders them to kill Sri Ram and bring his daughter home.

They two get married in a temple with the help of a bunch of kids. They find out that Srivalli is pregnant. When Venkatadri finds them, he threatens Srivalli that he would kill Sri Ram if she doesn’t leave him. With no choice left, Srivalli obliges. When Venkatadri finds out about her pregnancy, he and his wife plot ways to kill the child before it was born. They fail. Srivalli runs away again and tries to get back with Sri Ram. After giving birth, she’s told that her child died, when in reality, the baby was kidnapped. She returns to the city to mourn her child.

Venkatadri manipulates her into marrying Charan, the man her father wanted her to marry all along. She agrees to the marriage, but Charan refuses once he gets to know about her undying love for Sri Ram. Elsewhere, Sri Ram gets married to a woman named Meenakshi. One day, a few strangers come to Srivalli and give her news about her child. She initially doesn’t believe them but, later, they provide proof. Afraid that her father might kill her child, she runs away again, this time with Charan’s help. The rest of the story focusses on how Venkatadri plots to ruin Srivalli and her child but ends up realising his mistakes.
