The serial starts with two friends, Rani and Satti. They are best friends and have met after many years. They are discussing their lives. Rani and Satti live in Haryana. Rani left the country and shifted to America when she became an adult. She has been living a good life. Satti's father fixed her marriage with Gurnaam Singh. Satti was happy with this marriage. Gurnaam was a loving husband. Their marriage was happy, and Satti’s in-laws considered her as their daughter. Gurnaam and Satti loved each other like lost lovers uniting. Satti soon became pregnant.

Everyone around her was happy. Her mother-in-law and husband were extra loving towards her. Gurnaam even made an expensive gold bracelet for his child. On the day of delivery, it was revealed that Satti had a girl. Her father-in-law was happy. But Gurnaam and his mother were upset. She kept the bracelet to herself as the child was not a boy. She is forced to get pregnant next year. Her pregnancy was rough as she got pregnant too soon after her last child. Her mother-in-law prays to God for the unborn child to be a boy. Unfortunately, it is a girl again. Her family is disappointed. Satti is disrespected and abused by her family. Her mother-in-law remains angry with her.

Satti wants to be sterilized as she does not want to get pregnant again, as the last time was injurious to her body. Her mother-in-law and husband do not allow her to get surgery. As a result, she gets pregnant again soon. Her mother-in-law and Gurnaam force her to check the gender of the baby. They decide to make Satti carry the baby only if it is a boy. Satti refuses such illegal testing. But her family forced her to check. In the clinic, the fetus is revealed to be a boy. Her husband and mother-in-law are happy. At the time of delivery, she gives birth to a girl again. Her family tortures her, and she decides to leave the house with her three daughters. She left the house and started living with her father.

Her father fully supports her decision. Gurnaam marries for the second time. His wife gives birth to two sons. Gurnaam is proud of them. Satti alone brings up her three daughters. When the daughters grow up, they become reputed bureaucrats. Her eldest daughter, Preet, becomes a Supridentent Officer. Rajji becomes a judiciary Judge. Her youngest daughter is studying to join the Air Force as a pilot. Gurnaam’s sons turn out to be drug addicts. They kill a man while driving in an intoxicated state. Gurnaam meets his daughters in court when his sons are being sentenced to jail by the judge none other than Rajji. Gurnaam feels guilty about not raising his daughters, who turned out to be good human beings. He realizes his mistakes, but it's too late now.
