Zarina Wahab is a veteran and well-experienced Indian actress. She was born into a Muslim household in Vizakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Zarina is a fluent in Urdu, Hindi, English and her mother tongue, Telugu. She left her home when she was just studying. Zarina saw an ad about the acting course that the Film and Television Institute of India was offering. She applied and she is now a trained actress at the FTII in Pune. She was married to Hindi actor, Aditya Pancholi from which she met while shooting the Kalank Ka Tika. They got married in year 1986 with two daughters namely, Sana and Sooraj. There are rumors about their unstable married life and Aditya’s temper and issues of unfaithfulness are also in the gossip pages. Her daughter Sana is also an actress.
Zarina started her career in year 1974 and she was critically acclaimed for doing the characters of Geeta in the Hindi romantic film, Chitchor in 1976 and as Radha in the Bollywood fantasy movie, Gopal Krishna in 1979. Aside from that, some of her Malayalam films that was also critically acclaimed were Madanolsavam by N. Shankaran in 1978, Chamaram by Bharathan in 1980, Palangal which is also by Bharathan in 1982 and the 2011 drama film, Adaminte Makan Abu by Salim Ahamed.
Zarina was normally featured in middle-class roles because of her natural beauty. In 1974, she appeared in Dev Anand’s Ishq Ishq Ishq as Prema. Since then, she receives many offers to do Hindi films like Anokha, Gharaonda, and Agar… If, Tumhare Liye, Anpadh, Jeena Yahan and a lot more. She was also debuted in Telugu through the film, Gajula Kishtayya and in Tamil through the film, Navarathinam. She was debuted in Malayalam films through Madanolsavam and made a comeback in Malayalam through the films, Kabadi Kabadi and Calendar.
Besides filming, Zarina also did few television serials like, Maayka on Zee TV, Zaara – Pyaar Ki Saugta on Sahara One, Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Virrudh, Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, Ek Kiran Roshni Ki on DD National and FIR.
Because of her outstanding performance in the 2010 drama film, My Name is Khan, she won the Best Actor (Female) in a Supporting Role in the Global Indian Film and Television Honors in 2011. She also earned a nomination in Screen Award and Stardust Award for the crime film, Rakht Charitra in 2011 and a Stardust Award nomination for My Name is Khan. She was also nominated in Filmfare Award for her role in Gharaonda.
Zarina is still looking slim and very charming at her age. She is also a bubbly person and a responsible mother to her children.
