Plot: Kamaraj is the movie directed by A. Balakrishnan with the incidents taken from the life of the great leader, the chronic bachelor Kamaraj. Kamaraj is a legendary leader, who was a school dropout. Impressed by the speech of Sathyamurthy, he joined the Indian freedom struggle. There is not even a single black mark in the life history of this great man. Richard Mathuram performs as Kamaraj, the great. Though this film looks like a documentary movie, it is very interesting to know about the great leader. The story starts from the childhood of Kamaraj, his eminent part in the freedom struggle and his interest in the welfare of the people. This man, who has a black skin and the pure heart, is still admired and worshipped by many people.

The director has taken serious efforts to shorten up the biography of this great leader Kamaraj. The actor Richard Mathuram is tall as Kamaraj, but fails to provide a good performance. There are beautiful scenes in this film that depicts how Kamaraj brought the Congress party into a right shape. His services to the society are well depicted in this film. His free education schemes and the midday meals scheme are very popular worldwide. He is the only man who forgotten his family and breathed till his last second for the people. The schemes by Kamaraj are listed in this movie.

Kamaraj is the only person who worked hard to bring water for irrigation purposes for five districts including Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavoor, Dindigal and Theni, by building the Vaigai Dam. Without him, these districts might be in famine all these days. He was offered the Prime Minister post twice and this humble man refused to take charge and made Indra Gandhi as the PM. He is the real King Maker. Though he is a school dropout, he understood well and spoke English. He has never favored his community or his relatives. All these incidents are properly edited in this film. He respected the people, rejected the awards and lived only for the people.

The background score by Ilayaraja is astonishing. Naadu Paarthathunda song in the voice of Ilayaraja makes many people to shed tears. Anandhi who acted as Indra Gandhi has performed majestically. When she asks carelessly, “who is Kamaraj”, everyone who watches the film get tensed and grew anger on her. There is Charuhaasan, Samuthra Kani, Sumanth and V. S. Raghavan in this movie along with Richard Mathuram.
