Plot

Njanum Pinnoru Njanum focuses on the life of an affluent philanthropist, Thulaseedhara Kaimal. He is born into a rich family, who wanted a girl child resulting in him being treated as a female throughout his childhood. As a kid, TK was encouraged to do all the things a girl would do, including Mohihiniyattom class. He grows up to be a renowned altruistic man, but the feminine side of his still exists beneath that façade.

TK is forced into a marriage with a widow, Veni, and her teenage son. He is ignorant towards Veni but shows her son all the love he has to offer. As a middle-aged man, TK has turned out to be borderline bipolar with his feminine side intact. One night when Veni is away, her son experiences a strange interaction with TK. In his paranoia, Veni’s son alerts some villagers about TK’s behavior. Soon, a retired official is inspecting TK’s entire life.

Njanum Pinnoru Njanum focuses on the life of TK, a renowned name in his village. Rajasenan deserves all the appreciation for taking up many roles in the execution of this film. He not only served as an incredible actor but also took up the responsibility of being a writer and a director. Rajasenan’s impersonation of TK, a mentally challenged man with a dual personality, was phenomenal. His character was complex, but Rajasenan’s dedication and determination toward this role defied all the doubts. 

Analysis

Njanum Pinnoru Njanum tries to show the plight of an individual with a troubled childhood and identity issues. This movie attempts to bring a fresh perspective and storyline to the screen. The efforts taken are commendable, but many loopholes are observed in the execution of the initial plot.

The movie touches on complex psychological terms like bipolar disorder and dual personality disorder. These terms are new for the audience and extra efforts were needed to familiarize the viewers with it. This movie’s screenplay was written exceptionally well and every intricate detail is taken care of. Also, the characters are developed meticulously as the movie progresses.

Njanum Pinnoru Njanum is a thriller that focuses on the psychological and mental issues one faces. Very less movies are made on such issues bringing a new change for the viewers. Some scenes will definitely leave the public gasping and in shock. For all the curious minds, this movie is a must-watch.
