Plot

A village in Karnataka is affected by drought. Employment issues arise and the farmers couldn't do cultivation. The drinking water issue mounts and the people started migrating to nearby villages and towns. Gaddappa writes a letter to the government to provide compensation to the farmers as they could not involve in farming due to the drought. Following this, a government official comes to the village and inspects the drought-affected areas. But, the village head misleads him. The village head is the moneylender and he thinks that if the government compensates the farmers, the people will not borrow money from him and so he plans different and spoils the effort by Gaddappa. So, the farmers didn’t get their compensation from the government. Following this, Giri who could not repay his loan commits suicide. Later Gaddappa plans to fill the lake in the village. To fill the lake, they need a lot of money. But the villagers are not convinced with Gaddappa’s speech. But Gaddappa raises money by pledging his land. Did he succeed in his attempt? Watch the movie in theatres.

Star performance

Chenna Gowda and Singri Gowda have been playing the same roles right from the “Thithi” days. They had done their part well. Other supporting stars played as per the director’s orders.

Analysis

The director Sunil Reddy had tried to bring the success of Thithi in Gaddappanna Duniya. But he could not do it, as this looks like a stereotyped story with the same star cast. The film deals with the droughts and the poverty of the villages and not many Kannada directors have chosen this topic. Although everything seems to be somewhat okayish, something is missing in the movie. If the problem is explained, then people want the proper solution and if it is not told properly then they will not be impressed. The same thing happened in Gaddappanna Duniya.

Verdict

The director should have impressed the audiences by inserting some interesting things in the screenplay. People lose their interest in watching the movie if some commercial or some sensible info is not inserted. If you like to watch a film that has dealt with the drought situation, then you can visit the theaters of Gaddappanna Duniya.
