The movie is based on the popular book ‘Water for Elephants’ and is a direction by Francis Lawrence Francis Lawrence is a director and producer from t >> Read More... . Francis Lawrence is known for his musical works and is a better director of supernatural thrillers. But, as with ‘Water for Elephants’, the director has proved that he can direct romance movies also. The flick proves to be a surprise for moviegoers and is a romance happening in an attractive backdrop. Robert Pattinson He’s considered to be one of the highest paid acto >> Read More... does the role of Jacob Jankowski in the movie. Reese Witherspoon She’s one of the most dazzling and utmost paid act >> Read More... does the role of Marlena. Pattinson and Witherspoon are just not the right pairs. The difference in age, or maybe their different ways of acting makes them an unsuitable pair.

Plot: The movie’s storyline bears a resemblance to James Cameron’s movie Titanic in the way the plot has been woven. A very old man is seen roaming around the premises of a circus leading to a traffic snarl. The circus authority emerges out and finds something different about the old man. The old man relates his life to the manager. The old man Jacob Jankowski had worked for a circus company in the decade of 1930’s. The old man brings to light the sad sequence of events which finally led to the closure of the Circus Company.

Dating back to the 30’s, Jacob Jankowski is into his graduation in veterinary college. As the character Jacob is about to finish his studies, an appalling gloom descends on him following a tragedy. Jacob is forced to drop out of his college. He boards a train, and to his surprise, Jacob finds out that it is owned by a circus company. Jacob takes up the responsibility of caring for the animals. He comes across Marlena. Jacob is taken in by her beauty, and both share empathy for an elephant. Jacob and Marlena fall in love. But, Marlena has a bad husband, who objects to love between Marlena and Jacob.

The movie has some very good scenes. The movie vividly projects the times of Great Depression that happened in America during the 1930’s. The plot revolves around a circus culture and is appeasing to watch. But, as scenes unfold, audiences can predict what the story is about. The elephant in the movie is of course fun to watch.

Verdict: The movie is a stereotyped romance, and it would end up some among the audiences in a fix.
