 Plot

The friendship between lesbian Mansi Dubey and gay Veer Pratap Randhawa is the theme of the movie. The movie explores how they learn about love in friendship while on a road trip from New Delhi to Himachal.

Star Performance

The film stars Anshuman Jha who kills it with his sincerity and simplicity. He suits the character perfectly and especially shines in the pre-climax sequence. Zareen Khan although looks physically suitable for her role, she fails to make an impact as a free-going girl role as we usually see in Imtiaz Ali Imtiaz Ali, is a well-known multi talented Indian >> Read More... films. The rest of the actors are given very short roles and are barely given screen time to make an impact.

Analysis

LGBTQ-based content is on a roll nowadays with so many movies and series coming up. A road trip formula to sort things and explore friendship sounds very cliché and with this movie, it joins with the LGBTQ angle. The story amidst this mixture is a huge letdown as although it tried having various twists but fails to create an impact. The film starts with an age-old pattern with both the leads escaping their homes to save themselves from marriage and meet each other. In a road trip movie, the conversations are a crucial part but this movie lacks depth in them as dialogues are also predictable. Even, more involvement by other actors could have created a better impact as would have added a few nuances which have been more interesting to watch. Even the editing of the film is poor and could have shortened the film while the music also doesn’t support the movie. You really start feeling it's the 2-hour length as the movie lacks any grip points. What is the only saving in the movie is a few pre-climax sequences that try to show a developing bond between the characters. While road trips also focus on the cinematography of the landscapes, Pakkesh Rawat did a decent job of capturing those.

What’s there?

  • Some sequences during pre-climax

What’s not there?

  • Very weak storyline
  • Forgetful music
  • Poor editing

Verdict

The movie is a forgetful affair with its dull storyline and lack of emotional connection.
