Sherlock: 5 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know Before! English Article

Stating the blatantly obvious, BBC’s adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world renowned detective Sherlock Click to look into! >> Read More... Holmes has created quite an everlasting impression in the audience’s minds. Starring the likes of the heartthrob Benedict Cumberbatch Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch was born in L >> Read More... and the versatile Martin Freeman Born in Aldershot, a city in Hampshire in England >> Read More... , the show is considered to be amongst the best that has been ever made! You might think you are the biggest fan boy/fan girl of the show, but your knowledge of this impeccable adaptation might not be very vast. Let’s find out, shall we? Here are five of the most unheard/unusual (no guarantees) facts about BBC’s Sherlock:

1. The Onscreen Sherlock Doesn’t Like Sherlock’s Hair

Although Cumberbatch had to go through intense training sessions, yoga sessions, etc. for looking the part of Sherlock, the one thing he hates most about the character is the long hair. He believes it makes him look like a woman!

2. Sherlock’s Affinity With Blackberry

During season 1 of Sherlock in 2010, Holmes used a BlackBerry 9700. Two years later, during season 2 in 2012, Holmes began to use an Apple iPhone 4. In the same year, BlackBerry’s CEO Mike Lazardis resigned from his post; the reason being that they were not able to win over Apple.

3. Sherlock Sandwich Anyone?

Well, we know that Speedy's Cafe is a real cafe in Baker Street. But do you know that this cafe, which is often visited by most characters on the show, was originally slated to be called “Snax n’ Sarnies,” which was to be owned by Mrs. Hudson? However, this idea was immediately scrapped. Fans of the show who visit Speedy’s can order the special sandwiches called “Sherlock” and “Watson.” Rumor has it that the chefs are cooking up a mean “Moriarty” sub.

4. Sherlock’s Sexuality (?)

Clearly, the writers of the show enjoy teasing the audience about Holmes’ sexuality. Sherlock was perceived as a gay icon in China, and this gave birth to an entire set of fiction which involved Sherlock’s romantic indulgence with Watson; and China being China, there were several graphic & inevitable S&M scenes.

5. The Fonts On The Show Have Significance

The wordings used for on-screen graphics on the show have employed a variety of fonts according to the situation in the episode. For instance, for SMS AF Generation Z is utilized.
