Malgudi Subha was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is a play-back singer and a pop singer by profession. She has worked majorly in South Indian Film Industry and her voice is considered to be distinct and unique. Priyamani, a National Award Winning South Indian Actress, is her niece. Apart from all the types of South Indian languages like Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, etc.She has also sung Hindi songs in the Bollywood Film Industry. She has also been a Judge for various South Indian singing reality shows, specifically for kids, like “Super Singer Junior 2,” “Idea Star Singer,” and “Star Singer 2,” etc. She was born in Mumbai, and used to live over there till the age of 13. Then she shifted to Delhi with her parents.

Soon in Delhi, her parents recognized her talent and sent her to Komal G.B. Singh’s Studio. There she started singing jingles for various ad films and started working with A.R. Rahman. Her playback singing debut was for the Tamil Movie “NadodiThendral,” the music of the movie was composed by Ilayaraja. Rahman Also gave her the opportunity to sing the songs of his debut album named “Set Me Free” which also came to be known as “Shubhaa Set Me Free.” The album was not very popular as it was just the starting of Rahman’s career but when the album was re-released in the year 1996 with a few changes, and was appreciated by all the music lovers. At that time SubhaMudgal’s voice also became noticeable.

She did an album with Rahman named “ChikpakChikbhum,” which was immensely successful and 1 million copies of the album were sold. The music of the album was composed by Raj-Koti, under whom A.R. Rahman used to work initially. Apart from singing for albums, movies, and music videos, she also sung many devotional songs which were also appreciated.
