She did her schooling at Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Chennai. She is an actress, poetess, lyricist, and TV presenter working in the Tamil film and TV industry. Besides this, Vishali is an avid writer too. She wrote a family story as Kavignar Magal. Malan, the publisher, suggested Vishali write the historical genre, and that’s how she got into the genre. Vishali is interested in writing legacy poetry instead of modern poetry, as she feels the modern poems reflect the feelings and are not from the heart. Vishali was not interested in facing the camera as an actress. But, director K Balachander brought her to the film industry with the film Vaaname Ellai in 1992.
