. Daddy Arumugam Samayal is a cookery show showcasing Chef Arumugam’s culinary skills. The show is different than your usual cookery show, where a set is prepared, and food is cooked for a couple of people. Arumugam prepares food in large quantities in the traditional style. He doesn’t use the modern gas stove but the age-old chulha. He makes fire using wood and other such material and usually prepares Tamil recipes. His recipes are primarily non-vegetarian, and the chef introduces to the dish he is going to prepare during the program. Another USP of the show is that Arumugam doesn’t buy any ingredients from the market. Instead he prepares them by his efforts and instructs them on ways of making food the way he does. The show gives the perfect feel of organic food prepared in the south Indian style in a village setting. The show is excellent for learning how to cook the traditional way and gives a glimpse into the old techniques applied to the culinary skill. The show premiered on Sun Life and, later, aired on Sun TV. The series is also available on the OTT platform, Sun NXT.
