Uma Maheswari is a renowned TV host who rose to dizzy heights of fame and popularity by anchoring a show on Sun TV. As anchor with them, her reputation grew as she became Sun TV's main face. While hosting the show, she used to get phone calls from every generation. People became so crazy of her show that Tamil audiences wanted to build a temple for her in Kumili. But she intervened in the matter and tried to stop them from doing so. 

Uma had also hosted other TV shows in various channels. She has, till date, interviewed almost every top celebrity from different walks of life. In the show Album aired on Jaya TV, she broke some unknown incidents that have taken place in celebrities’ lives. She was also again associated with Sun TV (2007) channel and kept the audiences intact with her show as a cheerful facilitator. But she discontinued and quit the show that she was hosting after one year. She disappeared from the celluloid for some time and again made her comeback with her show on Jaya TV. As she came into limelight with her Sun TV show, she was approached by Bollywood director Subash Ghai whom she met at A.R. Rahman’s studio. She even got an offer to act opposite B-town superstar Shahrukh Khan. Besides this, many Kollywood filmmakers wanted to cash her popularity in the box office. But she politely refused to do them all any favor as she felt acting is not her cup of tea. 

At a time, she even felt that her popularity as a host would come down if she appeared in films. She came to limelight as a TV host and gained enough reputation and became popular in every home too. Although several filmmakers wanted to cast her in films for her looks and spontaneity before the camera, she stayed away from any such contact of the film industry. Besides being a host, she is also a trained classical dancer and had completed her MBA program. Now she is the managing director of a firm. 

Uma married Suresh who had been a model too. She observed once that religion and language did not come in between them as long as marriage is concerned. Her husband is Punjabi, and she is a Tamilian. In fact, even her husband had received several film offers, but he too had refused them. She is happy now with her achievement and settled well in life.
