P. N. Gopikrishnan

P N Gopikrishnan is an Indian Screenwriter and Poet who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry. His full name is Poovathumkadavil Narayanan Gopikrishnan. The poet was born in 1968 in the small town of Kodungallur in the district of Thrissur. P. N. Gopikrishnan is the son of PK Narayanan and VS Saraswathi. He completed his schooling at GLP School Papinivattam and received his higher secondary education from Christ College. P. N. Gopikrishnan did his undergraduate studies at Government Engineering College and is also educated in drama and has studied at SN College Natika. P. N. Gopikrishnan is married to KV Alisha and together, the couple has a son named Sachith Narayanan. 

P. N. Gopikrishnan is a prominent figure in the Malayalam poetry community. Some of his most popular works include ‘Madiyarude Manifesto,’ ‘Idikkaloori Panampattadi’ (a compelling poetry collection), ‘Athirappillat,’ ‘When Rewriting God,’ and ‘Daivathe Maattiyezhuthumpol’ (an essay collection). P. N. Gopikrishnan’s hard work and dedication have earned him several prestigious awards, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, the Ayanam-A Ayyappan Award, the K Damodaram Award, the Dr. PK Rajan Award, and the Kunjunni Smrithi Award. 

Beyond his literary accomplishments, Gopikrishnan has extended his creative talents to the world of cinema. He made his debut in the film industry in 2013 as a writer for A.V. Sasidaran’s film- ‘Olipporu’ (2013). He has written screenplays for Malayalam films such as Priyanandanan’s ‘Nocturnal Times’ in 2018 and ‘Silencer’, which was also directed by Priyanandanan and released in 2020. P. N. Gopikrishnan has also written lyrics for the songs in ‘Olipporu’ and ‘Nocturnal Times’. Besides movies, he has written scripts for numerous documentaries like Kali and Jalathil Matsyam Pole. When he is not writing poetry or screenplays, P. N. Gopikrishnan has a normal day job as a Manager at Kerala State Financial Enterprises Limited.
