Avira Rebecca is a veteran filmmaker and also a scriptwriter. He is mostly known for his debut art movie Thakarachenda. He is also the winner of Kerala State Film Award for Best Director for the same movie. He has given the industry two Malayalam films till now. He kick-started his career in the year 2007 with the film Thakarachenda and his next film released in the year 2012 called Pigman. Avira is very creative with his work and is a very talented director. He always tries to think out of the box and is mostly successful in preceding with his ideas. We can hope for more great films from Avira Rebecca. Thakarachenda is a 2007 Malayalam movie which is a direction of debutant Avira Rebecca with Sreenivasan and Geethu Mohandas acting as main characters. The picture depends on a real-life event. The film released on August 9th, 2007 as a bundle along with Shaji N. Karun's docu-fiction AKG.

A drama by category, the flick is an instance of black comedy and sardonic commentaries. Avira is a recipient the Best Debut Director Award and Special Jury Award in the Kerala State Film Awards. The movie is set in a shanty town in Ernakulam and emphases on a group of slum inhabitants who are frequently unnoticed in the determined blueprints of city designers. The main character of the film Chakrapani (Sreenivasan), is an beggar and also a small-time lender who survives in the slum. A drunkard, he devotes most of the time arguing with his mother. He likes Latha (Geethu Mohandas) who stays nearby with her two kids, Siva and Malli but she hates him. Latha, an asthmatic works as a housemaid and visions of a better future for her children.

Another woman Vasanthi (Seema G. Nair) lives with her two kids and a drunkard spouse (Manikandan) who is of no use and keeps producing endless trouble to her and his children. Finally, desperation forces Chakrapani and Latha to unite and raise their voice in objection against the unawareness towards their slum. Chakrapani ends up as their front-runner. The story reaches its peak when the government takes steps to get freed of the shanty town in command to go on with developing activities, and the slum-dwellers discover that they have no place to go. Pigman is a 2013 Malayalam movie which is a direction of Avira Rebecca and is written by N. Prabhakaran built on his short event of the same name.
