Heera Singh Rana, a well-known Pahadi singer, was born on 16th September 1942 in Manila village, Almora. Heera completed his education in Almora and later moved to Kolkata to learn more about singing. Heera had a deep love for music since his childhood and has been performing in various shows since the age of 15. Heera became a very renowned folk singer of Uttarakhand in the 1980s and 90s. His songs Rangile Bindi Ghagri, Mayeri Manile Dani, Aajkal Haire Jwana, and many more released in the 1980s became very popular. His songs were inspired by folk tales and carried the real Pahadi essence.

His first album, named “Rangili Bindi,” was released in 1987 that became a huge hit. In 2003, he released his second album called “Bandhari ko Paani.” Heera’s songs always carried some messages that depicted the problems faced by the local Uttarakhandi population. This is why he was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of Garhwal and Jaunsar Music Academy by the Ministry of Uttarakhand. Unfortunately, Heera Singh Rana passed away on 13th June 2020 due to a heart attack.
