Melvyn Rodrigues, son of Lt.Charles and Theresa Rodrigues, was a famous poet, writer, and activist of the Konkani Film Industry. He was born on 8 July 1962 at Derebail, Mangalore. His parents blessed with four Childs. He has two elder sisters and one elder brother. His educational qualification is Primary Education at Holy Family Higher Primary School, Derebail, and his High School studies at Padua High School, Mangalore. He graduated from SDM College, Mangalore and taken BBM degree, and earned his master’s degree in Sociology from Mysore University. Melvyn lives in Dubai. He was a great music lover.

He started his career in 1988 with her first poetry Mogapello. He wrote poems inspired by his guru Cha.Fra.De Costa. Melvyn was not just a poet but a wholesome personality. In 2023, he was selected as the governor of the Konkani Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademy at the General Council Meeting. Melvyn was elected as the permanent member of the Executive Council of the Sahitya Akademy for the next five years, which was a big achievement for him. He was the founder of Kavita Trust. Melvyn has also mentioned the album called DNI, which has dropped its footprints, and the whole music industry hasn’t expected this. The album was written by ‘Daiji Dubai’ who is the well-known artist so he has given a nickname and the tag of creator of the poet. Melvyn not just only loves music but is also an inspiration to many music creators.

Melvyn has attended 220 successful events organized for the poets and published more than thirty-four books in the Konkani Language. He has also done many translations and essay writing in Konkani Language. Melvyn was also elected as the president of the 24th All India Konkani Sahitya Sammelan organized in Canacona, Goa, in the year 2019, a post which can be earned, after years of hard work. Melvyn has won many awards through his fantastic poetries such as Konkani Sahitya Akademi Honorary Award for Literature (2006), Dr. T.M.A Pai Foundation Best Konkani Book Award (2009), Sahitya Academy Award (2011) and Vimala V Pai Vishwa Konkani Poetry Award (2016). He is a gem of Konkani poems and literature. He was a dimensional personality full of hard work and determination.
