Asif Khan is a London based architect. He is popular for his “MegaFaces”. Khan is the first ever architect to bag the 2014 Cannes Lion ‘Grand Prix’ award. He bagged this award for his pavilion that he designed at the famous Sochi Winter Olympics games. His work ‘MegaFaces’ is a giant structure formed by eleven thousand actuators, designed for a Russian telecom operator called “Megafon.” This structure has a specialty. It could transform in three dimensions to recreate the faces of the visitors at that place. ‘MegaFaces’ is the world’s fifth three-dimensional actuated LED screen that acts like one pixel and is controlled to change color or extend up to two meters to form a part of the 3-D shape. Khan confesses that he had made use of Swarovski crystals to recreate an ice-halo effect mostly seen in northern climates.
