Apna Apna Hissa is a culturally significant old television serial aired on DD Punjabi. DD Punjabi is one of the regional channels under the national broadcaster Doordarshan. Waryan Singh Sandhu was the Writer of this show. This show is an ambitious adaptation of the 15-short story collection book written by Waryan Sandhu in Punjabi. Waryan Sandhu is a renowned and celebrated Punjabi writer who won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his unique writing. It is one of the most prestigious literary recognition award of India. He is often known for his bold and profound narratives that revolve around the social and cultural life of Punjab. It is best for viewers who appreciate realistic storytelling and regional literature. Each episode is a different story with different characters and their problems in life. It portrays the real life of the ordinary people living in the villages of Punjab in the most realistic way possible. The writer showcased the disintegration of traditional family values and structures under the influence of the modern world’s materialism. It shows the slow erosion of conventional Punjabi values. The story highlights the struggles of the common person - farmers, cattle grazers, workers and villagers. The story showcases how greed for wealth destroys the foundations of a simple, loving family. The story revolves around a humble man, named Guddhu, who lives in his native village and grazes cattle for livelihood. He was once a great wrestler, but he decided to retire. Guddhu represents the soul of rural Punjab who is honest, hardworking and deeply connected to his land. His simple and peaceful life was suddenly disturbed by the arrival of his elder brothers, Swaran Singh and Karam Singh. They wanted the authority over their part of the inherited land of the village. They appealed for a division of land. Guddhu is disturbed by this idea because he is the one living in the town and taking care of the ancestral land for years. He developed an emotional attachment to the land. The land is not just soil for him. It’s a legacy and a beautiful memory of his life. The memories disturbed Guddhu when the bond between the siblings felt superficial. This led to an event of betrayal and isolation among the brothers. This problem created a rift that shook the foundation of their brotherhood and family. Narinder Rawat served as the Associate Director of this show. Madan Prashar was the Director and Producer of this show. His vision enabled him to bring Sandhu's stories to life on screen.
