1. Pratima Kazmi
Pratima Kazmi is a prominent Indian film and television actress. She was popular for doing a variety of Bollywood films and Hindi series. She initiated her career in year 1997 through the British drama film, Sixth Happiness under the direction of Indian director, Waris Hussein. She played the role of a Madam in brothel. The actress received applause for her performance in the film and soon after, she received many offers from the Indian filmmakers.
Even though she usually plays positive roles, she is also known for playing negative roles. Pratima is also popular for her distinct husky voice and the way she delivers her dialogue is kind of unique and this became her trademarks. The brilliant actress received nomination for Best Performance in a Negative role at the Star Screen Awards for her role as Gangu Tai in the film, Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II in 2004.Â
After her appearance in Sixth Happiness, she played as a prosecuting attorney in the box-office Bollywood film, Dushman in 1998; followed by her portrayal in another English film entitled, Such a Long Journey. In 1999, she appeared in the Hindi film, Godfather and Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama film, School. In year 2000, the actress also made an appearance in another crime drama film, Fiza and in Manoj Bajpai’s starrer film, ‘Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!!’. She played as a greedy woman in the box-office Bollywood film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which stars Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel in 2001. Later, she played as a wife in the blockbuster Bollywood horror film, Raaz in 2002. In 2003, Pratima acted as Chandi in the Hindi film, Yeh Dil. She has donned the film, Market by Jay Prakash and in 2007, she appeared in the blockbuster hit Hindi sports drama film, Chak De! India with the legendary, Shah Rukh Khan. She was also seen in the neo-noir thriller film, Ek Hasina Thi under the production of Ram Gopal Varma.She was with Sanjay Kapoor and Raveena Tandon in the Bollywood film, Jaago and Black Friday as the mother of Aditya Srivastava in 2004. She was seen in the action crime drama film, Sehar and the very popular Kamal Haasan starrer film, Mumbai Express in 2005. The actress also donned films like Elephant Boy, Bunty Aur Babli, Ssukh, Film Star, No Entry, Undertrial and a lot more.
Pratima also made her entry in the television industry on Zee TV’s Hindi series, Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar as the antagonist, Lali Maasi; the aunt of Kalika (played by Aashka Goradia) who helped her in destroying the Saloni’s. She also played as the Nani of Tapasya (played by Rashmi Desai) with a nasty tongue in the drama soap, Uttaran. Later, Pratima also acted as the grandmother of Raghu (played by Sudeep Sahir) in the Hindi serial, Jabb Love Hua on Zee TV. She also played the role of Rama in the Balaji Telefilms’ television soap, Kammal on Zee TV. Subsequently, she played as the mother of Abhi (played by Eijaz Khan/Hiten Tejwani) in the television serial, Kesar on STAR Plus. In 2009, Pratima bagged a positive role as Guru Maa in the Indian soap, Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya. In 2010, Pratima acted as Maha Mai in the drama series, Ganga Kii Dheej on Sahara One channel.
Pratima was also the one who taught Hindi to Akshay Kumar and so after twenty years, Akshay offered him the Gurudakshina at the Color’s Golden Petal Awards in 2011.

Savita Prabhune is a well known Hindi and Marathi tv actress. She is known for her roles in Pavitra Rishta, Kkusum, Kkavyanjali and Dehleez to name a few.
Savita Prabhune was a popular name in the Marathi television industry and she wore the crown of the most influential actress for more than 15 years and had a large fan following. Her most famous role is debatable but many consider her acting in the film Chaukat Raja as her best performance. Apart from Marathi films, she also appeared in Bollywood films such as Gadbad Ghotala, Kalat Nakalat, Current, Fiza, Tere Naam, Killa and others.
Currently, Savita Prabhune is seen in two daily soaps ‘Javai Vikat Ghene Aahe’ in Marathi and the Hindi TV show ‘Pavitra Rishta’. Her latest play ‘Char Divas Premache’ completed a thousand shows and although she remains open to acting in theater, the busy timings of the two daily soaps keep her busy. She also recently completed the Marathi film ‘Amhi Bolato Marathi’. Though she maintains she is open to work in any language depending on the subject matter she accepts it is more comfortable in the Marathi television industry.

Nandita Puri is an Indian actress and a choreographer who appeared as Shyama Solanki in the Hindi series, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge on Sony Entertainment Television India. She was also part of the serial, Chamatkar on Sony TV which stars Farookh Sheikh. Nandita was debuted in the television serial, Campus. But acting was never her passion at first. She is a classical dancer based in Mumbai and Kathak is her first and only love. It’s her dance that brings Nandita to the acting industry.
She got many opportunities to perform Kathak and that’s the time she was approached by the Upnayaas director, Vinay Dhumale and asked her if she can choreograph a Mujra dance. Afterwards, she got an offer to do a role in Upanyaas on DD1 channel. After this, she distanced herself in the industry because she started being a typecast, until she got the opportunity to perform in the serial, Campus and essayed the role of Kiran Joshi. One of her Kathak gurus told her to audition for the serial and she was luckily selected. Since then, she got many offers to do television serials like Aashirwad on Zee TV in year 1998. Nandita was also seen on Zee TV’s Sarhadein. In year 2000, she was seen in the drama series, Milan on Sony TV which stars Rohit Roy and Nattasha Singh. In 2001, she acted in Ekta Kapoor’s soap opera, Kalash in STAR Plus. Nandita was also part of the Hindi serial, Sanjivani – A Medical Boon on STAR Plus. In 2007, she was popularly known as Mohini Malhorta in Maayka – Saath Zindagi Bhar Ka on Zee TV.
Aside from working in the small screen, Nandita also tried her luck working in the big screen. She played as the mother of Priyanshu in the film, Mumkin which stars Bipasha Basu and John Abraham.
Nandita is a Psychology graduate and started her dance training when she was 17 years old from her Guru, Shankar Dev Jha. She won many awards for her performances in India and abroad. She received the Government of India Scholarship in year 1982 to 1983. After working in many television shows and films, Nandita has enough money to pursue her career as a choreographer; she has proven herself in the 1996 Hindi film, Sardari Begum by Shyam Benegal. She choreographed a Kathak piece in the film. She is also doing Ballet dance which will define Thumris in classical dance. She choreographed a poetic version of Thumris. Nandita was also the director of the audio-visual clip on Bade Ghulam Ali Khan’s (a Hindustani classical vocalist) life. Her mother, Primila Puri who is also a vocalist from the Patiala Gharana assisted her and Nandita got Bade Ghulam’s grandsons. Nandita danced to Bade Ghulam’s compositions while his grandsons speak about the inspirations following his bandishes such as Kya Karoon Sajni Aaye Naa Balam. The show was a hit in Mumbai and she also plans to bring it on Punjab and Patiala.
She also choreographed ballet dance like Shan-E-Moghul-Darbar/Agra and for the television serial, Ramayan on Zee TV and in some music albums and commercials. She was also sent in different countries to perform her dance.
4. Prabha Sinha
Coming from a family of lawyers and doctors, Prabha Sinha herself too, excelled in academics. She holds a first class first Honors degree in Sociology. She entered the world of TV and movies after she had two daughters who are now both employed in the U.S. Born on 16th April 1960, Prabha is fondly called Puttu by family members. She enjoys doing social work.
She played the role of a wife to a man already married, in Aashiqui against Arun Govil and in Swabhimaan written by Shobha De and directed by Mahesh Bhatt in 1995. She is also part of the serial Sanskruti.
Prabha played a vital role in Choti Bahu- Sindoor Bin Suhagan which is the story of young girl who is ill- treated all her life because she is adopted. Prabha featured in Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan which dealt with the theme of a healthy relation between husband and wife and the ups and downs of familial bonds.
She portrayed the character Sheela in Swabhimaan opposite Deepak Parashar, aired on DD. She was also part of the first daily soap aired on DD – Itihaas. Thereafter she was on DD for Parampara and Aurat which was a B.R.Chopra production. Neena Gupta cast Prabha in her directorial venture Palchin. She also acted in Zameer aired on Zee TV and Parampara on the same channel.
Her first venture in comedy was 9Gold’s Chonch Ladi Ke Chonch. She was honored by getting the opportunity to be cast against yester year superstar Rajesh Khanna in Ittefaq on Zee TV. She played the character of mother –in- law in Kundali on Star Plus opposite Sai Bilal. Kahani Nahin Jeevan Hai also showcased her talent.
Television aside, Prabha has featured in several movies too. Her first movie role was in Mother 98 opposite Jeetendra directed by Saawan Kumar. Thereafter, she did a role in Subhash Ghai Production Good Boy Bad Boy where she played Emraan Hashmi’s mother. Prabha also bagged a coveted NFDC film – Amrita.

8. Benjamin Gilani
Benjamin Gilani born on November 20, 1946, is a versatile and noted actor who has acted in theatres, TV serials and both in commercial and parallel cinemas. He was born and raised in Delhi, India. Benjamin Gilani studied English Literature from Delhi University and then went on to become a graduate from Films and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, India in the year 1972. Noted ace Bollywood actors Naseeruddin Shah and Tom Alter were also his batch mates in FTII and in the year 1977 this talented trio opened a theatre company named Motely Productions and also launched a play named Awaiting for Godota. After acting in few theatre for a time Benjamin Gilani started teaching English Literature at St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. He juggled his career between teaching and acting. From late 70’s through the 80’s and 90’s actor Benjamin Gilani featured in a number of successful and critically acclaimed both commercial and parallel Hindi movies such as Pyaasa Dil, Mukti, Bhumika: The Role, Junoon, Kalyug, Meri Kahani, Pratibha, etc. He also went on to feature in TV shows mostly for Doordarshan channels like Bombay Meri Hain, Apna Jahan, Zindagi, Bhootnath, The Great Maratha, Rahaat, Junoon, Noor Jahan, and many more… Benjamin Gilani also starred in successful Hindi films like Mirch Masala, Waqt: Race against time, 8x10 Tasveer, etc. Recently, in the year 2013, Benjamin Gilani appeared in Hindi movies like Rising of the Zombie, Baromas, and Game and in the 2014 TV movie Sun silk Real FM. Benjamin Gilani is a very talented and multi-faceted actor and we feel proud to have him on our TV and Movie Industry.
