1. Mayuri Upadhya

Mayuri Upadhya is an Indian dancer, choreographer, entrepreneur, and TV personality. She was born on 30 December 1979, Udupi, Karnataka, India. Her parents' names are Muralidhar Upadhya and Shamala Upadhya. She completed her studies at Sri Vani Education Centre and an MES College of Arts, Commerce & Science graduate. Mayuri is trained in Bharatnatyam under Indira Kadambi and Minal Prabhu. She has also done training in Odissi under Uday Shetty, Kathak from Guru Maya Rao, and Kalaripayattu from Ranjan Mullaratt. In 2000 she founded an organization named Nritarutya, which has become one of the foremost contemporary dance organizations in the country.

2. Priyamani

Priyamani is a talented actress of the Southern film industry. She received the prestigious National Award for her role in the Tamil film Paruthiveeran. Before entering into the film industry, Priyamani was doing modeling. 

 

Born on June 4, 1984 in Bengaluru, Priyamani debuted into the film industry with the film Tamil flick Kangalal Kaidhu Sei. The film was a disaster at the box office and she shifted to Telugu and Malayalam films. Pellaina Kothalo is her debut Telugu film opposite Jagapati Babu. This film gained her the much-needed recognition and it was declared a super hit. She came to Tamil industry with a bang through the flick Paruthiveeran, sharing screen space with Karthi Sivakumar. Satyam was her first Malayalam film, but this film was not well received at the box office. In 2005 she made her screen presence in Balu Mahendra’s flick Adhu Oru Kana Kalam opposite Dhanush. Though this film was appreciated by critics, it bombed at the box office. Priyamani’s performance also received good response. 

 

Alongside getting the National Award for her stellar performance in Paruthiveeran, Priyamani received State Film Award and South Filmfare Award. She also received an international award for this film. The 2007 Telugu flick Yamadonga was another successful film in her career. During the same year she had another hit in the form of the Tamil film Malaikottai. Thirakkatha is a Malayalam film in which she received critical appreciation. This film also fetched her Filmfare award. 

 

Thotta, Arumugam, Classmates, Raam are some of the other Malayalam films in which Priyamani acted. The 2010 Malayalam flick Pranchiyettan and the Saint was a roaring success in her career. Maniratnam’s Raavanan, Ram Gopal Verma’s Raktha Charithra were the other films that she acted. Vishnuvardhana, her Kannada flick, was also a superhit. Kannada film Anna Bond of 2012 was a box office success. She worked in another venture in Bollywood (apart from Raavan) by doing an item number in Chennai Express, opposite Shahrukh Khan. 

 

Priyamani knows many languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. She is the cousin of Bollywood siren Vidya Balan.

3. Ravichandran

Ravichandran was a veteran Tamil film, theater, and television actor known for playing protagonists in the 60s and 70s era of Tamil cinema. The period of 1964 to 1979 is when Ravichandran established himself as a Tamil superstar. Ravichandran has also featured in brief roles in various movies and has directed a few films as well. Originally born as B.S.Raman in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ravichandran relocated to Tiruchirappalli in India. Ravichandran pursued his education at the St. Joseph’s College. Ravichandran started his film career in 1964 with C. V. Sridhar’s “Kaadhalikka Neramillai.” The movie also featured R. Muthuraman, Kanchana, and Rajashri. The decade of the 60s also saw Ravichandran in K. Shankar’s “Gowri Kalyanam,” T. R. Ramanna’s “Kumari Penn,” Balu’s “Motor Sundaram Pillai,” “Kalyana Mandapam,” “Adhey Kangal,” and “Naan,” among many others. The 1970s saw Ravichandran in the Gemini Ganesan starrer “Malathi,” “Vimochanasamaram,” Crossbelt Mani’s “Sakthi,” the Jayalalithaa starrer “Avalluku Ayiram Kangal,” the Kamal Hassan starrer “Neeya,” and the Sivaji Ganesan starrer “Kavari Maan.”
