1. Alok Ranjan Dasgupta
Alok Ranjan Dasgupta was a popular Bengali poet specializing in literature and plays and translated them into English and German. He also worked as a creative translator of many German and French essays in Bengali not to miss the interesting sections of world literature. He studied at eminent institutions like Viswa Bharati, St Xavier’s College, Presidency College, and University of Calcutta finally to receive a PhD degree in Indian Lyric poetry. He taught Comparative Literature and Bengali at Jadavpur University before leaving for Germany on a Humboldt Foundation Fellowship. Since 1971 he had been associated with teaching at the department of South Asia Institute at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
