Mantra, born Puranjit Das Gupta, is the son of Chandra Das Gupta and Prabir Das Gupta. He adopted the name Mantra while working as a radio jockey in Radio Mirchi. He has worked in radio for over a decade and in a range of popular stations like Radio Mirchi, Red FM and Radio City among others.
