Dharmesh Vyas is a highly talented and gifted actor of Hindi TV serials. He is Gujarati by birth and was brought up in Mumbai. He did his graduation from Surat and did a degree in acting from Vadodara. He is from an artist family. His grandfather was a poet and his mother is a well known singer. His uncle is also a writer and his two sisters are also in the field of acting. He had been interested in acting since his childhood days and used to perform in plays during his school and college days.

His first TV serial was Parampara in which he played a small role. At that point of time, he was acting in a play called Rajyog in which he was noticed by the directors and was offered an important role in Hasratein, his very popular TV serial. He portrayed the role of Professor Shyam Verma in this extremely popular soap opera which brought him both name and fame. With this serial, he became a household name. He has acted in a number of Gujarati plays and TV serials and is a very popular actor on Gujarati TV as well as Gujarati theatre. He is a theatre freak and vows to continue with theatre medium at any cost. His commitment to acting may be witnessed from the performances he has given in his serials like Sanskar Laxmi on Zee TV. Dharmesh is also into direction of TV serials and he has directed three Gujarati serials all of which were a huge success.

4. Rajendra Gupta

Rajendra Gupta is a veteran Indian director, theatre, film and television actor. He was hailed from Panipat, Haryana, India and studied at Kurukshetra University. His father runs a textile business but Rajendra is more focused in working on theatre. He met Veena, his wife-to-be in Indore while he’s doing a play in college. But Veena’s parents are not in favor of their marriage so the two leave Bhopal and got married. They now have a daughter named, Ravee Gupta who works as an actress as well. In year 1972, Rajendra attended National School of Drama in New Delhi.


In 1985, Rajendra’s family shifted to Mumbai and he initiated his career in television. During the 80s, he appeared in television serials like Nukkad, Intezaar, Bharat Ek Khoj and Kahan Gaye Woh Log. Few years after moving to Mumbai, he acted in his first film, Yeh Woh Manzil To Nahin as Vice-Chancellor Asthana in 1987. A year later, he was featured in the Hindi film, Main Zinda Hoon; a film that won the Best Film on Social Issues award at the 36th National Film Award. Subsequently, he bagged the role of Aslam in Saeed Akhtar Mirza’s Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro in 1989. He has done several television serials and films. In 1990, Rajendra’s name was added in the Limca Book of Records for working on over 40 television serials. 

He was notably remembered as Pandit Jagannath in the fantasy series, Chandrakanta on DD National  and as Jagat Narayan, the father of Sudha (played by Manasi Joshi Roy) in the television soap, Saaya on Sony TV, where he won the RAPA award in year 2000. He also appeared in television serials like Shaktiman, Aashirwad, Raavan, Kuchh Is Tara, Ek Kahani, Hum Ladkiyan, and Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Me. He also acted as Mahaveer Singh in the very popular drama series, Balika Vadhu – Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte on Colors TV in 2009. From 2011 up to the present, Rajendra appeared in the main lead role as Kesari Narayan on SAB TV’s comedy show, Chidiya Ghar. Also in 2011, he played the same role as Pandit Jagannath, a Ramal master in the fantasy series, Kahaani Chandrakanta Ki on Sahara One.


Rajendra also acted in a bunch of prominent films like Jaan Se Pyaara, Tarpan, Bhai, Daava, Benaam, Dil Kya Kare, Laado, and Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya. Among all the films the he donned, he stated that he is proud to be part of the 1989 Indian film, Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro and the box-office epic sports drama film, Lagaan in 2001. He also worked on critically acclaimed films like the 2005 Shonali Bose’ film, Amu; the action crime drama film, Sehar and the biographical film, Guru in 2007. He was also part of the British comedy drama film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in 2012 and his latest film, Bobby Jasoos in 2014.


He works as the actor-director of stage plays like Sarphire and Jaheez Hatyare, Sooraj Ki Antim Kiran Se Sooraj Ke Pehle Kiran Tak and Dikhti…Khoob Ho!

5. Dharmesh Mehta

Dharmesh Mehta is best known for his directional roles on the shows Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Papad Pol and as producer of R.K.Laxman Ki Duniya on SAB TV. He began his career as a child artist and gained recognition. Later on, he had directed plays for children even. Afterwards, he went on to a career behind the camera directing TV serial such as Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and received instant recognition. He left the episode Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah after completing 500 episodes of the show. This actor was not born in a theatrical family, yet had a full faith that he could become one day an actor, producer and director even. Although, he was a civil engineer, he began his role as a spot boy giving tea and slippers to people in the studios. Hence, his parents were averse to his idea of taking up this glamour career. 


He appeared in many commercial plays in Gujarat, and even acted with late Shafi Inamdar, Asha Parekh and even Apara Mehta and was drawing a minimal salary of Rs 400. But his association in the theatre was the best part of his life. In one of Shafi Inamdar’s plays, he even had a chance of playing a blind character and Sharman Joshi played a deaf character. Throughout this early success in theater activities, his friends provided a strong influence and asserted that Dharmesh Mehta could experience activities in TV shows. Tele personalities like Jamnadas Majethia and Deven Bhojani were his two close friends and appeared as a comedy actor in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. They gave Dharmesh a break in the serial. Later his another friend, Asit Modi, who was the producer of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, called him to Join the Neela Tele Films Private Limited production house. Thus, he placed his foot indirection. He completed 500 episodes of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma. After he left Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, Vipul Shah requested him to take up directorial job of new serial Papad Pol. After Papad Pol, he met with an accident. But despite such hurdles in his life, he resumed his production activity and turned into producer. He produced ‘R.K.Laxman Ki Duniya’ which was air edon SAB TV. He also launched his own production house in Mumbai named 'Namanraj Productions which is engaged in making TV shows, plays, documentaries and movies too.
