Dinesh Kaushik is a Punjabi actor, born on May 27, 1957 in Bhatinda, Punjab in India. A theatre graduate of Punjab University in Chandigarh, the actor has worked with the professional theatre artists in Mumbai. He also donned several advertisements, TV shows and films. He started his career by playing the role of Narsinghrao Pradhanmantri (Jhansi’s Prime Minister) in the historical drama series, Jhansi Ki Rani on Zee TV channel in 2009. Prior to this, he also acted in the television series, Raghukul Reet Sada Chali Aayi, along with Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bhattacharya in 2008.
Dinesh started his career in doing theatre acts and became an active member of Majma Theatre Groups and Ekjute Theatre Groups. He made his debut in the big screen through the 1986 Hindi film entitled Ankush, which was written, produced and directed by N. Chandra. In 1991, he appeared in the Bollywood musical romantic film, Jeena Teri Gali Mein, followed by his appearance in the 1993 horror film, Mahakaal. In 1999, Dinesh played as the brother of Sonali Bendre in the action drama film, Sarfarosh, helmed by John Matthew Matthan. He also got the chance to work with the Bollywood star, Salman Khan in the box-office musical romantic drama film, Tere Naam. In 2002, Dinesh has acted with Anil Kapoor’s first production venture, Badhaai Ho Badhaai, a film which was inspired by the America’s The Nutty Professor. In the same year, he was seen in the Bollywood thriller film, B & W: The Black and White Fact by Harbans Laali and in 2011, he was also seen in the film, Mere Aashiq.
He has done television serials as well; Prithvi was part of the television serial, Rishton Ke Bhanwar Mein Uljhi Niyati on Sahara One. The actor became widely acclaimed for his performance in the political documentary series, Pradhanmantri. His portrayal as Vallabhhai Patel gained him praises and appreciation by the audience. He also made an appearance in the horror fiction show, Haunted House on Sahara One in 2013. Prithvi was also part of the drama soap, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV. He also made an episodic in the Hindi crime-based show, Savdhaan India – India Fights Back on Life OK and played as the father of the wedded boys who will get into trouble. Last 2014, the actor made an entry as MLA Beniwal, the politician father of Kuldeep (played by Alokk Narula) in the television series, Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai… Ajab Sa Risk Hai on Life OK. He also acted as Harishankar Pandey, the father-in-law of Alka (played by Neha Pednekar) in the series, Shastri Sisters – Chaar Dil Ek Dhadkan which was aired on Colors TV in 2014.
Prithvi is the real-life father of Kunal Singh who happens to be his co-actor in Niyati.
