The Kannada flick Apoorva is a directorial venture by Ravichandran.  Ravichandran and debutant actress Apoorva are seen playing the main role in the movie.  The movie happens to be a musical romance story. The promotion for the movie with dialogues by Ravichandran raised considerable interest in the movie fans.  The movie has managed to come out with a U Certificate. Let us see whether the movie has anything to offer for fans.

Plot:

There is a terrorist attack on a mall, and there is a power cut.  A 61-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl are stranded in the lift of the mall. That is when both of them happen to have a nice philosophical conversation, which during the course of time blossoms as love.  But, will logic-reasoning take what the heart says?… That happens to be the crux of the movie.

Star Performances:

The new face Apoorva could have done better.  There is no scope for performance by Sudeep and Ravishankar, who make brief appearances as terrorists.  The only performance worth mentioning is that of Ravichandran.

Analysis

The movie is a typical one by Ravichandran, and is old wine in a new bottle.  There is no story in the movie.  An accidental meeting on the lift which blossoms as love is what the entire movie is about.  The movie with such a daring theme has managed to get a U certificate which is the most astonishing thing that the censor has ever done.  Director Ravichandran has tried to come up with an innovative idea.  But, the lack of good screenplay, with poor performance by some artists has spoilt the movie.

What is there?

  • The philosophical conversations between Ravichandran and Apoorva are worth mentioning.
  • Ravichandran deserves credit for taking up such a different theme.

What is not there?

  • There is no scope for performance by other actors in the movie.
  • The narration fails to impress the audiences.

Verdict:

If you have the intention to try out something different for the weekend, then this movie would be the right one for you.
