Plot

The Gray Man focuses on the life of Courtland Gentry, who has been under arrest for eight years for killing his father to protect his brother. He is offered a bargain in exchange for his freedom to work for the CIA as a shooter. As Sierra Six, or Courtland is off to kill a target named Dining Car, he reveals that he too was in the force and hints to Sierra about the corruption in the system. Dining Car then gives him an encrypted drive disclosing information about Carmicheal, a leading agent.

Sierra Six goes to unimaginable lengths to figure out about the “shadow corruption” in the system. But Carmicheal discovers Sierra’s motive and has him tracked by Lloyd Hansen, a skilled spy. Among all the hardships, there are two questions.

Will Sierra be able to find the truth?

Will he be able to save himself?

Star Performances

The best performance is of Ryan Gosling, a notable name not only in Hollywood but also in the entire cinematic industry. Ryan’s role as an assassin at the CIA, who then sets out to find the truth about the corruption in the system. The intricacies of his role have been justified by him. His casting in this movie contributed to The Gray Man turning out as a success.

Analysis

The Gray Man can be categorized as an action-thriller with a troubled spy trope. It seems like a blend of all the famous suspense-filled movies all in one. The combination of Ryan Gosling and Ana De Armas on screen has attracted a huge crowd of people. Also, Ryan in an action film is another splendor in itself. The plot is quite predictable and uninteresting at times, disappointing the viewers who came with high expectations.

The screenplay was not devised articulately and many loopholes were observed. Also, a definite conflict was raised that hasn’t been resolved efficiently. Plus, the dialogues are poorly written and often fail to deliver a meaning. These are some of the flaws in the movie that make it less appealing to the viewers.
