Plot

Sarah and her brother Sonny live with their mother Kathy in New York Click to look into! >> Read More... . Sarah must write an essay for her admission letter to Columbia University, and she chooses the title fear. Sonny has a friend, Sam, and one night when Sam’s father goes out of town, Kathy decides to take care of him. Sonny and Sam run an amateur garbage cleaning business and their school calls them to clean up an abandoned house. Upon going inside the house, they suddenly come across a book that strangely looks like a magic book, it’s a locked manuscript, and not knowing the consequences, the boys open the book, unknowingly bringing Slappy the dummy to come back to life. It's Halloween night and the boys encounter what seems like hundreds of suddenly brought-to-life Gummi Bears. It seems like the magic book from R.L. Stine has brought to life all kinds of ghosts, ghouls, and witches and now it is up to the kids and Jack black who is playing the role of RL Stine to defeat all the released monsters.

Star Performance

Jack black as always is phenomenal and funny, and the viewers will want to look forward to his performance even if it’s a short one this time. The kids have done an incredible job as per their age, It is funny and entertaining because of all the cast members including the voice characters.

Analysis

The original Goosebumps series has been part of our childhood for so long and I was impressed by the first movie but the second one was a bit disappointing. Still, an entertaining watch, as we dig dive into the character of Slappy, a ventriloquist puppet that just wants to be a family of his own. Goosebumps, used to be the scariest book and tv series when we were kids and as the content develops, the movie series has turned into a bit of kid-friendly tv, it’s almost like somebody kept Stine on gunpoint and asked him to dumb the movies down to appeal to the younger audience. Still kudos to the director for managing to make a fun scary movie you can watch with family even though there is nothing to fear about it anymore.

The essence of the original books and the series is seemingly missing from the second movie.

Verdict

Goosebumps 2 is a good movie for the kids, it is entertaining to watch. Quite disappointing for the older generation fans of RL Stine, but it is a great way to introduce the new and the young people to a legendary writer and his series.
