Plot
The story begins in 1993, in West Memphis where Pam stays with her daughter, son, and husband. One day, she brings her son Steve from school, and he starts doing homework. Then Michael, his friend, comes to his house and Steve leaves with Michael with his mother’s permission. Steve while cycling with his friend goes to the end of the neighbourhood, where a dense forest starts from. People have named that area as cave of the Devil. Then they go inside the forest. In the next scene we see Pam’s husband Terry asks her about Steve to which she replies that he has gone out with his friends to play. The time ticks to 4 45pm and Steve is not home yet, while his mother has told him to get home by 4 30. So, Pam and Terry go out to find their son, on not seeing him Pam gets back to her work. After a few hours, Terry goes to Pam, saying that it’s been hours that he is been searching for Steve in all over the neighbourhood but he is unable to find him. Where have the children gone? Are they in danger? The rest of the film talks on it.
Star Performance
The film has excellent cast, especially Reese, Alessandro, along with those investigating officers who have done a great job in making the film seem as close as possible to the actual incident. However, the length of the movie could have been a little long. Altogether, the film is well produced and directed with a great storyline.
Analysis
It was a great but deplorable and heart-breaking movie with great acting. It is such a captivating and suspenseful film and seems so natural that it ultimately drags you into it. It was upsetting, but horrible crimes especially involving children would be disturbing. In reality three children lost their lives and in three others the judicial system destroyed their lives. Maybe the film should have focused on the investigative side more than the family; although you will like the dynamics of Reece Witherspoon’s character and her struggle to understand the truth it does lack better writing and character depth.

It is an outstanding movie and worth the watch. The film is a big eye-opener and is highly recommended for viewers.
