Miriam Margolyes is an Australian –English voice artist and a character artist. She was born on 18th May 1941. She started her career by working in the theaters and then she moved to films and television. She has won many awards including the BAFTA award. Miriam was born in Oxford, England. Her father’s name was Joseph Margolyes, and he was a property developer and an investor. She was raised in a Jewish family and her family migrated to the UK from Polland. She completed her high schooling from Oxford High School and later she went to Newnham College, Cambridge. Miriam had a very distinctive voice. In the early days of her career, she was recognized as a voice artist. She even recorded a soft-porn audio. She appeared performing supporting roles in dubbed Japanese TV series called The Monkey. She worked as a voice artist in the theater company called the Gay Sweatshop for another Japanese TV Series, The Water Margin. She first appeared on the big screen in the year 1977. Her performance in the movie Little Dorrit, where she portrayed the role of Flora Fenching won her the LA Critics Circle award for Best Supporting Actress. In 1992, she headlined the sitcom Frannie’s Turn. In 1994, she got to work with Martin Scosese in the movie The Age of Innocence. She was awarded the BAFTA Awards for Best Supporting Actress. She portrayed the role of Professor Sprout in the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Some of her other successful work include Wicked, Endgame; Nina Needs to Go and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part II. She has done a lot of TV serials namely Wallis and Edward, Agatha Christie's Marple: The Murder at the Vicarage, The Place of Lions, The Pheonix, and the Carpet, and the Vanity Fair.
