Kate Rooney Mara is an American actress. She was born in a hot shot family where her father, Timothy Christopher Mara was the chief executive (vice president) of the NFL team New York Giants and her mother was Katherine McNulty. Kate’s grandfathers were Wellington Mara, co-owner of The Giants and Timothy Rooney, owner of Yonkers Raceway. Her grand-uncle is Dan Rooney, Steelers Chairman and also former Ambassador to Ireland. Also, she is the great-granddaughter of Art Rooney, founder of Pittsburgh Steelers. The above details clearly explain how opulent she was born.

Mara began her acting at the age of 9 through school musicals and plays. In her first audition, she did not land up in the role and then she seriously decided to pursue a career in acting and thus joined the Tisch School of Arts at New York University. Mara’s first TV role came in 1997 drama Law & Order, and she played various guest roles in series namely Madigan Men, ‘Ed’. She took her cinematic bow after two years, acting in Random Hearts. In 2003, she landed two other roles- one being an 18-year old who is impregnated by her teacher in the film ‘Everwood’ and as a bisexual cheerleader in ‘Nip/Tuck’. In 2004, she was back in the small screen playing the lead role in WB’s ‘Prodigy’. The following year she was seen again in Jack & Bobby. In 2006, she starred in Fox TV series ‘24’.

Her extraordinary contributions in Academy award winning film Brokeback Mountains, where she played the daughter of an actor only a few years older than herself, paved a gateway for her to several covetable assignments. She then signed with William Morris Agency and was included in the list of “10 young actors who have a shot at making it big”. Clearly she gave a good shot in the span of 3 years (2007-2009) by taking up all possible roles and opportunities that were in front of her, making several blockbuster hits importantly ‘Transsiberian’ (2007), Stone of Destiny (2008), Peep World (2009) before joining the cast of Marvel’s Iron Man Click to look into! >> Read More... 2 making a cameo appearance.

She shot for ‘Happythankyoumoreplease’ (2009) which won the US Dramatic Audience Award. In 2010, she played hiker Kristi in the Oscar-nominated true story 127 Hours. She appeared in ‘Ironclad’ (2011), which is the first film in which she spoke in an English accent. In 2014, she was joined in the cast of ‘ Transcendence Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ by Wally Pfister. 2015 had been a great year for her which started with her playing the Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four Click to look into! >> Read More... after which she had the chance to play the role of an astronaut along with Matt Damon He’s known to be the “Hollywood Golden Boy” as he >> Read More... in Ridley Scott’s The Martian Click to look into! >> Read More... .
